WOW - Been 13 weeks already?
OK, so it's been 13 weeks since I last updated.... I thought I was going to do better with this this time, but apparantly not. haha
Things have been busy, but still fairly laid back.
We got a puppy a few weeks ago.... her name is Sasha, and she's the best little girl ever! She's 7 months old, and is a Pit Bll / Labrodour mix... which is funny cause from some angles she looks like a Pittie, and from other angles, she's all Lab! haha She's been keeping us VERY busy with training and playtime and bathtime, but it's totally worth it! We LOVE her! The cat doesn't like her so much, but they are getting used to it.
Art-wise, things have been pretty great! Today, I am getting my paintings framed for the art exhibit in Scotland.... they ship out on Friday! The exhibit starts May 2nd..... my birthday is just two days later, and I don't think I could possibly have received a better birthday present!!!!! I'm being interviewed for the exhibit's DVD and the museum''s magazine.... and I'm pretty much all ready for my solo exhibit here in Pittsburgh in June - got to take care of my Press Release (tonight) and my flyer design (tomorrow night) and then I am done until set up May 31st.
I also just had a FANTASTIC idea.... art idea, of course.....
my dad, WAY back in the day, was an artist. And to encourage my talents, he would do line drawings for me to color in - my own personal coloring books...... well, what if I kinda did the same? I think i'm going to draw up and then release my own line of coloring books! Actually, TWO lines of books - one for the kids, and one for adults! What do you guys think? Would you buy something like that for your kids - or yourselves? I dunno, at the very least, I would have them for myself and my kids (WAAAAAAAAAAAY down the line!).
I've already drawn a few very detailed coloring pages up for my new niece through marriage Katie (she's 12 and wants to be an artist) and she LOVES them! I'm thinking this could be really really cool..... maybe if I can get the kids' set done, I can have some available for sale at my solo exhibit. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................
Let's see, what else is going on?......
Work is OK, could always be better, but it could ALWAYS be much worse! I'm just a bit behind (and writing this isn't helping, but eh....) but that'll all be fixed ehre soon... I'm slowly crossing things off my list! Two weeks ago (or maybe just one week? Dunno) was Grant week here at the office.... where I headed the submission of one of two Research Grants to the National Institute of Health. And I did a FANTASTIC job, if I may say so myself! My submission came back with just one error, which was easily fixed and wasn't anyone's fault - just a formatting error.
Because of all that work I put in on the grant submission (worked an ENTIRE weekend plus two full weeks) I got a nice bonus, and we got our company-wide raises! I am now officially exactly where I need to be financially to be able to pay ALL our bills, put some money aside and STILL have some disposeable income to spend how I choose!!!!! This is the very first time EVER! It's a relief, it's long overdue, it was given with thanks and gratitude and apologies that it took so long.
I suppose that's about it... at least that I can think of for now, but that's enough, as I need to get back to work.
