This is chilling sad. I love Sam's drive for revenge - he's not going to die here, he's still got to kill Lilith - and the way Ruby sort of - not quite but almost - fills the hole that Dean's left, is there to watch his back and keep his mind on the game. She even calls him 'bitch'. It fits in so well with Sam's Season 4 characterization. Really great, and you've got a good tone going in the action sequences!

Oh good! Action scenes sort of worry me. I'm really pleased that I got that season 4 feel to it, too- one of the things I love about SPN fic is that there are such distinct things going on character-wise at the different points, and the relationships change so much over time. Oh, Sammy. You poor, fucked-up boy. I loved his head!Dean and how Sam knows how damaged that makes him. Nice use of Ruby and the way she inserted herself into the hole Dean left behind.

*pats Sam* yeah, I think that he would be the sort that sees exactly how low he's falling, though it only makes the fact that he can't stop that much worse. I'm glad that you liked head!Dean and Ruby!
