It's time for another installment of Heather is Stupid...
So today, I came back from Rochelle's and realized that my low fuel light was on. So I stopped by a nearby gas station on the way home. Pumped my gas while playing Tetris on my cell phone. Then replaced the gas pumper thing and drove off...
And everything was fine until I hear the "boink" of something falling off the roof of my car as I make the first turn out of the gas station.
And I proceeded to realize that I forgot to replace the gas tank cap.
So I pull over into the parking lot of the Giant, and get out of the car, only to hear a loud "CRAAAAACK". And I look in the direction of the noise, to see a car driving away. And I realize that the car just ran over my gas tank cap. I was horrified to see the remnants of the cap all over the street. And then I closed my eyes and turned away, but couldn't block out the sound of another horrible "CRAAACK" as yet another car ran over the largest remnant of my poor gas tank cap.
Now, this is the SECOND time i've lost my gas tank cap. The first time was around November of last year. That time, I didn't even realize I was missing the cap until a week later when I had to fill up again. That time, we went to three auto part shops before we found one with the right type of gas tank cap.
So i drive over to the nearest Advance Auto Parts, all the while thinking horrible thoughts about the car blowing up because of leaks or whatever in the tank. I felt slightly less edgy as I drove past a fire station, but it was a pretty tense drive.
Needless to say, I made it to the auto parts store without dying or permanently disfiguring myself, and sheepishly asked the clerk for the gas tank cap that I needed. Luckily, they had it in stock this time. And the clerk looked at me, and I could see "Ugh. Another Stupid Asian Girl Driver" written on his face.
*sigh*
