I need to get these down before I forget.
The Way We Never Were: The American Family and the Nostalgia Trap - Stephanie Coontz
This was a very interesting read. It really explored the falsehoods that surround the “perfect American family.”
King of the Middle March - Kevin Crossley-Holland
The first two books were more compelling. I just didn't care about the 4th crusade and liked it better when he was at a manor. Still it wasn't a bad ending to the series.
The Subtle Knife - Philip Pullman
Second book of the series. Overall pretty good.
The Amber Spyglass - Philip Pullman
During this book I finally figured out what was going on and I was shocked. I think the conclusion the book came to was good but not exactly the message I expected from a children's series.
The Ever After Bird - Ann Rinaldi
It was a pleasure to be reading one of my favorite YA authors again. I always like it when I find books by her that I haven't read. This one was about a girl in the 1850's who really has to deal with the realities of slavery for the first time.
