For Ann, for her birthday

I don't, as you know, necessarily ascribe to the idea of Boromir and Theodred as lovers, but I hope you appreciate this:

To Honor the Princes As they came to the small island on the Isen where the mound had been raised over the body of Théodred Théodenson and his Riders, all stopped, and Frodo looked down upon it with pity. “Boromir told me,” he ( Read more... )

That's a lovely solemn drabble, and perfect, too, for Remembrance Day. There's no reason to think Boromir and Theodred would not have met, recognized their kinship in shared experiences and expectations, and been livelong friends and allies. This is a lovely salute to that aspect of their shared history. Thank you for thinking of me!

Thank you so, Ann. You were the first to officially welcome me to the company of fanfiction writers, and gave me such reinforcement with your reception to "For Eyes to See As Can." I would perhaps not have continued to write had you not done so. I feel as if I owe you a great deal, and can only wish you ever the best in all you do and in all you write.

This is also for all the veterans I have known--my father died in service as an air force pilot, although not in war; my stepfather was a tailgunner flying off an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Theater of World War II. My mother's father and stepfather both fought in World War I. My brothers served in the army and the navy. My sister-in-law served in Iceland, the Philippines, Australia, and Stateside as a communications specialist in the navy. My uncles served in the air force and army. Friends Claude, Joyce, and Henry both served in the air force and were stationed in England. May they all be honored for what they did!

I'm so glad you feel this way, Claudia. It's also for my husband, who was blinded while in service in the navy. But mostly it was for Ann, of course.

We owe so many so much!
