O.O Bouncing Mikey? Jeebus you know how sick minded I am, why did you make me picture that beautiful, beautiful sight?
Alright, in a short answer, it doesn't need to be heavy, but I just find in popular music, female artists, or a female lead singer is always the radiant one, is always beautiful and sort of just there to be pretty and sing. They are always singled out, but more importantly, it is made obvious that they are 'ladies'. They never look tough- they just sing. Rap is a different story altogether. Very few of my guy friends listen to anything other than male-fronted bands. It's as if they're embarassed to like anything else, or if they take female's less seriously. I hate to say it, really, but Amy Lee, is the perfect example. If there was a male lead singer of Evanescence, they would probably be considered heavy metal or gothrock (if we've decided to label), as opposed to whatever they are now. It also seems like saying you like Evanescence may get you laughed at, and that's sort of what I'm trying to say. "Heavy" nowadays, entails The Distillers, or Flyleaf, because those girls have proven they are made of the same stuff as men (sort of). Unfortuneately, yes, it seems like you have to be able to kick ass and be 'one of the guys' to be taken seriously now. I hope that made sense. Not really as short as I wanted, but yeah.
