Lift returns to Pittsburgh screens with a regular engagement at the Oaks
Theater starting July 8th. Lift has screened at over 40 major film festivals
internationally (Cinequest, Montreal Film Festival, Paris Film Festival?) and
has garnered over 15 Best Short Awards. Filmthreat gave it 5 stars, Ed Blank
of the Tribune Review describes it as 'a little treasure of a movie' and In
Camera (Kodak Magazine) calls it 'touching and stylish'.
Directed by local filmmakers Hugues Dalton and Jeff Garton, Lift stars French
character actor Dominique Pinon (Delicatessen - Amelie - A Very Long
Engagement) as Otis, a live-in lift operator who has never set foot outside
his elevator. He is secretly in love with K (Claude Lavallee), a junior
typist who is afraid of elevators and has never set foot in one. Each
morning, as K climbs the 20 flights of stairs to her typing pool, Otis does
his best to parallel her ascent. He subtly influences the demands of his many
passengers to catch glimpses of his beloved. K?s only pleasure is typing out
her dreams on her lunch breaks. Everyday they each go about their routines
with quiet dedication. But this routine is about to change.
The July 11th screening will be followed by a Q&A session with both
directors."
