Stop. Really, stop.
Shipping crack is exhausting and the quality of fic varies from bad to okay to sometimes AWESOME. The time and grief you've spent trying to find something good, amusing, or amazing does not even come close to satisfying when you finally find that miserable golden nugget. Most of the time, you don't. And then you write fic and it gathers dust in your hardrive because you know no one will really like it and you'll get at least one review saying "lol wot? I liked it hope you write A and B too!".
That's a disheartening response because the story is overshadowed by the fact that it's about X and Q and not about the traditional A and B or how these characters interact outside of canon, and hey, maybe it could happen!
So people don't click, those who click don't care, or those that click and review miss the point entirely or really maybe you just ::gasp:: suck and everyone is being casually polite. Think about that self. And take it as a challenge to improve, no moping uselessly in a corner...okay, you get five minutes.
Seriously. Writing is not all about feedback, but you want to share so you have someone else to squee and fangirl with! These fanfics are more like self-advertising to your likes and sometimes you hope people will join ya. Not very effective, self. Maybe you should try making a community and stop bitching about it.
In fact, you're lucky you found some people who converted or jumped ship when you started being spastic about it. Perhaps you should be more spastic. Or less.
But seriously. Take a break.
You won't find fic for your newest pet ship. Okay more like you found it and it wasn't up to your seriously lowered standards(IN CHARACTERNESS). You won't find other people who'll like it because the show is aimed at kids and most fanficcers are pre-teens who will eat anything the screen throws at them because the show made it blatantly clear and it's easy to latch to the one ship that won't ever disappoint you, specially if they're SPARKLESPARKLEPRETTY!
You never were one of them. Your first true fandom was Ranma 1/2 and you shipped Ukyou/Ryouga. That'll never be canon. Your second fandom was DBZ and you shipped Krillin/Bulma something fierce and accepted the much (much MUCH X INFINITY) more popular Vegeta/Bulma because it's awesome in it's own right. Oh and don't forget Uub/Marron which introduced you to
wychan who is your bff for ever and ever and she has catered and listened to your nonsense for over half a decade. That's pretty hardcore, yo.
You're different. That's cool, some other people are like that too. Others aren't. Sometimes, people don't want different, they want cool character with prettiest character because we're shallow and ew! Ugly characters can't be shipped LOL, what do you mean they're multi-faceted? No one likes the Humpback, silly!
You need to go into grown-up shows like freaking Merlin, or...Firefly? Supernatural? IDK. Star Trek is full of awesome. Maybe Something that will at least yield more for time spent. You've really fallen for the Galia/Uhura and you found someone who writes awesome smut for them.
You're lucky TMNT is an old fan favorite, a classic, one that will have new faces, but will always have a core older fan group that'll satisfy you as you go through your phases. OR, or maybe you should stop being disappointed when you find your favorite mangas, or series has little to no fandom. Manga>fandom most of the time, ya know AND
they're obscure,
not popular.
So. Self. Have a break. Canon shipping disappointed you. Gen fics are rarely what you end up liking. Yuri is like the forgotten step-child of fandom and Yaoi is so popular you can't find anything you really like unless it's recommended. Also, it's the golden child of fandom, so you don't have to really worry about finding stuff in the end. If it's good, it'll find you (and how).
We both know you crack!shipped because it is a fun way to bend canon and learn of character interactions. They're challenging. They can't use cliches because it will be judged more harshly. Of course it isn't a free pass to put pretty with pretty, although possible, and it does not pardon character bashing. Or anything. Crack isn't an excuse for laziness, ya know that.
But we gotta let it go for a while. Crack is for fun. Stop making it srzs bznz. Give yourself a break. Maybe then you'll finally get over your mental block and stop analyzing every single word you're using because they sound contrived. It's not the word, stop picking on it! You just suck and where you put it clashes with the other poor words! Sometimes they don't get along together and you've somehow found a way to push them together. Shame on you.
Do us all a favor.Take a break.
Hummm
So. Conscience, you done yet?
I am going back and searching once again. Sorry.
//End lame rant
I've written 8000+ words this weekend. For Codename: KND fics. I don't even know where I found the time. Or where I was going with all my half-baked attempts at one-shots. Oh self. Did you forget you have a deadline this month for that writing contest you were going to enter?
