Erik has taken to dressing himself. This is a good thing and I am suitably proud of him for doing so. However, he has taste. I am as of yet unsure what kind of taste he has but he has to have exactly the right outfit and empties his drawers every single time he dresses himself. Now it would be bad enough if this was once a day but Erik likes dressing himself and does so several times a day emptying the dresser every single time. The other kids and I put the clothing back usually in pretty short order but a couple days ago Shenan came across the clothing strewn around the den (which is where the dresser is) and decided to put the clothing back. The exchange went something like this...
Shenan - *neatly folding each item of clothing and putting them away correctly*
Me - "What are you doing?"
Shenan - "Folding the clothes and putting them away." (well, duh..)
Me - "Why?"
Shenan - "Because they are all over the floor."
Me - "They are ALWAYS on the floor... There is NO point in folding them OR seperating them. They will be back on the floor in ten minutes."
Shenan - "They are NOT always on the floor and the kids need to learn how to fold the clothes better. These are all wrinkled."
Me - "Shenan, I stopped bothering to fold them after the first time they are folded from the dryer because they won't stay that way." (This is when I realized that the first folding is somewhat pointless, too)
Shenan - ... (Still folding)
I walked away at this point because there wasn't any point in going on. An hour later Shenan is hollaring at Erik for pulling every article of clothing out of the dresser and leaving it on the floor...
AND when I came out to make sure Erik was still breathing - Shenan is sitting on the floor folding clothes...
The defintion of insanity is repeating illogical acts (exactly) and expecting a different outcome next time...
