ignorance on the internet (imagine that)
So, I'm working on my last paper for the semester. I'm making some progress, but it comes in spurts of course. While procrastinating, I was reading through some of the comments on this Buffalo Rising article:

and it absolutely disgusted me. It's about the opening of a new cafe on Grant Street (which is great), but the discussion quickly changed to the topic of immigrants and refugees and all the other "scum" that would need to be removed from the area in order for the business to succeed. Because that's all that really needs to happen. Just keep shoving the poor into less and less desirable areas of the city and continually attribute their low socioeconomic status to their own shortcomings. No need to address any real social issues.
