You can do both in one day, but Minto suggests spending more time in Canterbury than in Rye rather than the other way round. He's been to both, I haven't. There's more to see in Canterbury than in Rye. There's the cathedral, the old town walls, the Gatehouse, which used to be the main gate into the city, and is now a museum and there's also the Canterbury Tales exhibition.

If you want to go to the seaside, is there any particular reason for choosing Rye?

We can do the Minto Tour of London on the Sunday or the Monday, by the way. We'll be busy on the Tuesday as we're going away on the Wednesday.

Ok, the trains run fairly regulary (according to the website) so I shouldn't have a problem with adding more time to Canterbury. There isn't any reason for Rye really. I think I just want to go take a picture by the sign as rye and coke is all I drink. And I've never been to either, so I figured why not?

I think Sunday would be best for Minto's Tour, then I can do Canterbury and Rye on Monday and London by myself on Tuesday and Wednesday before going to Grandda's.

EEEEEEEEEE. I'm excited now.

Sunday will be fine for the tour. It's probably better to do it that way round than do London on your own first.

I don't think I've ever been to Rye, I've been to some of the other places on the Kent coast. I've just found this information on Rye. It does look a nice place to visit. You won't have to book a ticket for any specific train, so you can just stay in Canterbury until you have had enough then move on to Rye.
