How long are you planning on staying.
What were you hoping your budget for the entire trip (excluding air fare) would be.
What *must* you see in England.
Are you traveling with friends.

You might be better off staying in one place, like London. Maybe picking one place to take a day trip out to one day. rail passes aren't exactly cheap.

You could stay in a hostel. Sometimes if you tell them you'll stay for longer than a few days, they give you a discount. My first trip to Paris I would pick up bread, cheese and fruit to keep me going during the day and have one good meal (like a big lunch) every couple of days to make sure I didn't get sick.

You might also look into student discounts while you still can.

And buy a "England on a budget" book.

Maybe some of your relatives could come to you? That would help out on traveling costs.

Definately getting England on a Budget, I love those types of books. But they always seem to give me more things to see. I will be looking into student discounts, it seems a save bet. Hostells are fine by me, but I sense problems running those by the folks. Yep I'm 20, living under her thumb.

I won't be able to ask family to come down to London, it's easier for them if I'm the one moving around. I couldn't ask them to take days off work to visit with me. And my Grandpa isn't really up to long (and I know to us it isn't long at all) trips like coming to London.

I've looked into the london underground for certain passes that I can get, and it seems the 3-day one might be the best for me. But at 36 pounds, I hope to God it's worth it. Or maybe I should just get a day pass and walk everywhere.

I'm a little too indecisive to plan this on my own I guess.

Thanks!

The three day pass is the best value for money. The £36 ticket is not your only option.
£36 will get you a 3 day all-zone ticket that will get you all over London, including ths suburbs, any time of the day. Do you want to use the Tube or buses earlier than 9.30 in the morning? If not, you can get a 3 day off peak all-zone ticket that's only valid after 9.30 for £18. If you only want to travel in central London, (and that's where most things you are likely to want to see are.) you can get a zone one and two travelcard for £15. Mind you, it would be worth the price of the £18 ticket if you want to go outside central London at all. You probably end up paying more than the three pound difference. The ticket machines don't all sell the cheaper tickets, so ask at the ticket office. If you've any more questions about London, mintogrubb is employed by the London Underground to advise tourists, so ask us. When are you coming to London? Perhaps we could show you round!

*grabs a pen* Thanks Lila! This helps alot. I couldn't make any sense of the websites I was looking at. I think I will be taking you up on asking yourself and Minto alot of questions.

I'm hopeing to be in England/Scotland between August 14 and August 30. But I'm not sure where I'm going to start my trip (London or Aberdeen).
