So, a month, about, since my last update. What's goin' on everybody?
Things were super busy around here. Painted my bathroom+sanding and staining that chair (which I still have to finish uploading pictures of, it came out beautifully) with Jessica and Devin, and gardening and cleaning in preparation for Robby's Graduation.
Mom and Bruce came down and it was mostly fine. I did have to get on Robby's case to not make a big deal that I hate that I have traits/do thing like mom does/etc. I wasn't doing it, I was behaving awesomely considering my past track record with my mom, but Robby thinks it's hilarious and brings things up whenever possible. Can we just not mention it? Can things not be uncomfortable and awkward and unhappy? Please, please, please, just once.
Robby graduated! So proud! *clutches heart* The family sent him a buttload of money. It's ridiculous. Rob, Dad and I are going out tomorrow to get the macbook pro he wants with that buttload of money.
Everyone was after his ass to get a job. One time I actually just dropped him off at a shopping center and told him to apply everywhere,'You can skip the salon, though. Call Grammy to pick you up when you're done because I'll be at work, okay, bye!'
He ended up getting a job through a friend of his he graduated with, John. John's Dad owns a company that does repair on houses and things after storms, but since we haven't had any storms recently they're taking normal contracts. For the last two weeks Robby's been sleeping over John's Mon-Thurs and carpooling with John and his Dad to wherever they're working that day. Every couple days he comes home for clean clothes, but I usually miss him because I'm at work.
They're also paying him really well. $9/hr. Probably under the table, at 35hr/week. Ridiculous. He's learning a lot of useful/neat things though. Like,
This Old House kinda stuff. He's gonna be so handy! (More heart clutching because we grew up watching This Old House and New Yankee Workshop with Dad. I actually remember anticipating new episodes, new to me, but probably reruns, on mornings during the weekend because I'd get to see how something else was made with really cool tools. We'd ask Dad if he'd ever done whatever Norm or one of the guys was doing and if he hadn't he knew someone who did, or he had and we'd get a story. Nostalgia.)
Suzanne has been terrible without even showing her face. Things are still really bad with Luke (Suzanne and Luke do a lot of yelling and fighting, she raids his room a few times a week, he drank at some point while Dad and Suzanne were on vacation last week with some of Suzanne's kids/grandkids and called out of work). I came home yesterday and found him passed out on my bed. He was totally out of it. I managed to wake him up and he was coherent enough to know that it was weird he was there and stumble down the hall to his own room.
OH! Grammy came too for Robby's Graduation! It was wonderful! We hung out every morning before I went to work. We'd do yard work, clean up in the basement, or run errands. :) She took me to Panera for lunch one day after we'd both gotten our hair cut (omg, their bread). Robby, Grammy and I went out to dinner at Olive Garden the night before she left. I made Robby and Grammy sit together in the booth (because he's so tall, and she's so short and because Robby had been away working all week and had hardly spent any time with her, and so I could look at two of my favorite people at the same time).
That day I got my hair cut and ate delicious bread? My hair cut was free because I cut off 12 inches and donated it to Locks of Love (I tried not to sound really psyched about a free hair cut when the lady mentioned it).
I've also temporarily moved into Abbie's house. Momma Hain is in Oregon for the next month because her son Joey and his wife Amy just got their second baby. Abbie's gonna fly out in a week and a half, but until then she's alone. So, she sent a mass text out, 'Anyone who wants to stay a night or two with me while my mom is gone, come on! I hate being alone in this house!' I volunteered (what a hardship, it's almost like a big hotel, Abbie's house is ridiculous) for the first two nights and then Abbie was like, 'Hay, why don't you just move in so you don't have to deal with Suzanne and stuff?' and I was like,'PLEASE CAN I?'
So, I'm all set up in her spare room (I also brought my tea set and found a place for it on the counter). Abbie's family likes everything pitch dark at night, and I've gone reverse, I'm back to needing some light, so I pulled a paper screen out of the closet in the spare room and draped a spare string of Halloween colored Christmas lights on it to simulate the lighting I have at night in my room. :D
Abbie's just amused. She said, 'I love it when you come to stay, Hay. I know you'll make yourself right at home.' I've thanked her (since our work schedules are opposite, she's mostly mornings and I'm all nights) by doing the kitchen and living room on her Honey-Do List (she made it for herself on her day off, but didn't get anything crossed off lol), and leaving her a funny note about my morning adventures at her house with her animals (3 dogs, 3 cats).
Anyhow, living with Abbie is really nice (I mean really nice, and she has a saline pool in her backyard, so it actually feels good when you open your eyes under water, I'm gonna swim for a little every morning that it's sunny out before work), but I'm really excited because Robby and I are both off tomorrow and we're doing Father's Day stuff with Dad. :)
I'm going home around 9:30 to make Dad French Toast (his favorite breakfast). Then we're going to get Rob's computer. After lunch I'm taking the three of us to see Super 8 (Dad and Rob have been talking about this movie since they saw the first teaser trailer, they're so psyched). AND THEN! Robby has two tickets to see Led Zepplin (I'm positive Dad's seen them before, and I think Rob and I saw them, maybe at the Concert for America in 2001? but it's always nice to see an old favorite).
Nanight!
