Where have I been?
For anyone wondering why you haven't seen me except on a rare occasion (I know you must think I'm being anti-social or something! ;) ) I've been running around like an idiot for a while trying to find a place to live! D: That, and I work every other weekend now as well. Wolever and I got to go camping last free weekend though! So that's a plus.
Now what's this about finding a place to live? We've sold the family house (consisting of myself, mom and my little brother) recently. Mom is going to live with my grandmother, as she's become very fragile in her age and needs help around the house. Jared (brother) is going to live with his girlfriend. And I'm shooting myself in the foot looking for a home myself and my dog. Much as I'd love to live with Wolever, his building doesn't allow dogs. So, the hunt for an apartment that allows dogs was...special.
I checked out some places that were nice, but in horrible areas. Places that were absolute disasters (holy freaking crap, you would not believe the prices people are asking! A disturbing, disgustingly DIRTY unit in a duplex for almost $700/month! I looked at some places asking $800+ and...man, you couldn't have paid me to live there!)
Feeling more and more disheartened about the situation, I ended up looking at a place that turned out to be a condo for purchase (...listed as a rental) that was gorgeous, all new renos, all new appliances and ALLOWS DOGS for $122,900. So...I signed an offer to buy, was accepted, got a mortgage and contacted a lawyer. Cool, except the realtor selling this place is a complete fop. She's disorganized and hasn't a clue what she's doing. She filled out the offer papers wrong, so my lawyer is telling me it's not a legal contract now?? OMG! I'm running out of time to find a home! Several small things have gone wonky since then, but things are looking better now.
...except that when I talked to my lawyer today, he said everything is looking good and will go through. BUT (!!!) the lease is actually for unit 9. The fuck?? I signed papers for unit 6! I don't even know what unit 9 looks like! What the hell! @_@; Ok, don't panic. Call the realtor.
So, she doesn't know why they're talking about unit 9. She says she's going to have their lawyer call mine. Yeesh. And I'm becoming more and more nervous about this, because I'm running out of time. The possession date for the new owners on this house is Aug. 31. I have to have something lined up with a move-in date before then.
So, if this isn't resolved by the end of the week, I'm going to see if I can just walk away, though now that the lawyers have gotten deeper into it, I don't know if I can. Technically, I should be able to because the contract wasn't legal in the first place, and I haven't signed anything since then. So even in my lawyer signed on my behalf, he didn't do so with my consent so. Argh, this is rediculous. >.<; Man, home-buying is scary. I don't like it. Of course, this was not the way I should have done it, but this is certainly a quick way to learn a lesson. ^^;
Ah, house drama. So, we'll see how that goes.
What else have I been up to? Working on a 'sooper secret' costume to be released soon (now that the last of the fur has arrived, thank goodness!) and the website! Yup, everyone and their dog is a fursuit builder, and now so are Katie and I! Technically I'd already been doing so for a little while now, but now it's official, for realz yo. (or whatever it is kids say these days. Apparently I'm not up to date on my slang, and made everyone at work laugh the other day with my foibles. Aparently "These puppies are sick!" doesn't actually mean you need to visit the vet.)
So yeah. Spiffy new logo and mascot, full website to follow soon! Of course, I must finish the stuff on the table before the deadline before I can play with that, so in the meantime, enjoy the place holder page. It may be there for a while, until I figure out this housing situation. ;)
...maybe I'll embarrass myself and show you the progression into that logo. Some of my earlier ideas were pretty scary! :D Love the eye searing colours though. Don't worry, I promise not to make the page horrible to look at. Gonna be white, mostly. I think anyways. The logo will be the only blinding part. :3
