This autumn there are three ways you can demonstrate your appreciation of Val McDermid's work.

The European Crime Fiction Star Award, the Ripper honours a crime fiction author who has rendered outstanding services to crime literature within Europe. The prize will be awarded to a living contemporary author whose work is of European importance and/or has received a significant reception within Europe. The prize will be awarded once every two years in the course of Europe's biggest international crime story festival, for the first time in autumn 2008.
