alright ladies and gentlemen, many of you have been asking for further details about canada. i'm basically too tired/lazy to explain it the way it deserves to be explained, but i can give you the basic layout of what happened...
- brittany and i left wednesday, spent the night in an econolodge at the tippy top of pa.
- we grilled in the parking lot with my very small grill. it was gnarly, to say the least.
- the next day we made it to niagara falls, canada.
- about 45 minutes after we crossed the border, we pulled out of a mcdonalds and got sideswiped by some dude.
- canada says it's my fault.
- my insurance company agrees.
- so the most amazing tow truck driver of all time picked us up, took my car to the body shop, and then took brittany and i on a tour of the town.
- he dropped us at a hostile.
- for those of you who don't know (cuz i didn't) a hostile is like a big squat house that you pay a very small price to stay in.
- we checked in, met some hippies, then walked about 25 minutes back to niagara falls.
- they light the falls up at night with these gigantic colored spotlights. it's unbelievable.
- spent all day there, and in the surrounding areas, and walked back that night.
- met more canadian hippies, who told us awesome stories.
- we went to a convenience store in the middle of the night and a frenchmen sold brittany cigarettes made of woodchips. yes, woodchips.
- the next day i squared away everything with the insurance company and called my mom to confess.
- we hung out under a bridge by the hostile, smoking wood chips and drinking warm soda left over from the night before until the rain finally let up.
- then we walked back to niagara falls again.
- spent a few hours there, then took a cab to the car place to hassle them for answers.
- they said the car was going to cost about 6 grand to fix, and they were waiting to hear back from the insurance company.
- they also said the amount of work it needed would take until at least tuesday to get done. this was friday.
- so we decided to buy 2 bus tickets (the bus station was around the corner from the hostile) and go on home that night.
- we left the niagara falls, ontario bus station at 9:30 that night, and arrived in baltimore at 11am saturday morning.
- we stopped at customs, where brittany and i couldn't stop laughing at the thought of the immigration people opening up our trash bag luggage to find our very small grill and the other random crap i had to take out of my car.
- they didn't even bother to open the bags when they saw them. they just let us go.
- we switched trains in buffalo, which was easy. we switched again in new york, which was a pain.
- we got to baltimore, and it turns out that the dude at the niagara falls station told us the wrong street for the baltimore station, where wes was supposed to pick us up.
- ya see, in baltimore, there are two greyhound stations. one on o'donnell st., and one on w. fayette. the dude told us we'd be arriving at the w. fayette station, so i told wes to be there.
- so we show up at the o'donnell st. station, with hardly any american cash, and no working cell phone.
- we finally hailed a cab to get to the other station, and the smelly cabby told us the w. fayette station had been moved to somewhere else downtown. so we had him take us there and prayed to God wes would somehow be there.
- somehow, he was there, and he took us home.
- we made it back alive and well, sans a car, but with a ton of hilarious memories.

i had a great time, and i have enough money to handle the car situation. i should be driving again in 2 months or so at the latest (that's if they total the old girl. if not, should be a couple weeks). the only thing i'm worried about is my mom. she'll be home from michigan tonight and she's pretty damn furious (which, i would be, too). and i have to ride to work with her tomorrow...and for a few weeks...i'm pretty terrified.
