I didn't sleep at all today, which wasn't different from so many others. I've come to find that sleep is a commodity I rarely get in plenitude. While it plays havoc with the things I try to do during my day, I manage to get by with a smile. I'm a person lucky enough to have found happiness in all the right places, be it my understanding, tolerant friends or my caring girlfriend. The people in my life seem to have a knack for bringing a smile to my face no matter the circumstance.
Today I found a reason to be grateful, which seems to be harder and harder to do as I get older. Due to a lack of sleep I was somewhat absent minded. But I still had things that needed to get done, one such thing, was a quick trip to the bank. However, I got out of the bank, only to discover that being the attentive and alert genius that I am, that I had locked my keys in the car... along with my cell phone (This is prolly the third time i've done this). So with no way to get a hold of anyone, and no spare key, I hung my head and resolved to begin the walk home. Luckily I got a brief respite from my trek. I had only to take three steps away from my car, when I ran into someone I knew who was pulling away from the bank's drive up ATM. After kindly begging her for a ride, I was back to my home with truck keys in no time. Then due to the efforts Devon waking up once I was dropped off, I was back at my truck yet again, keys in hand.
Sometimes, when you feel like a complete failure (which we all do sometimes, even it it's just a little thing that serves as the back breaking straw), it's nice to have friends to pick you back up and dust you off. Even if they don't realize the little efforts make a big difference.
Today I am appreciative, of a lot of things.
