Stupid Movie Rant about nothing important

Jan 10, 2007 20:40

Why I won't go see The Departed is because it's a remake of the Hong Kong movie, Infernal Affairs. Remakes from movies decades ago are one thing, but Infernal Affairs was released in only 2002. Also I would have less of a problem of The Departed if Infernal Affairs had more of a chance in the US. Miramax released Infernal Affairs in the US in only 5 screens and only for a month (and not surprisingly, it only did 10k less per screen than the much more hyped and longer released The Departed). Since I haven't seen The Departed, I won't say which is better, but I can safely say that both had the same quality of actors and directors involved with the movie (alot of reviews say both movies are virtually the same with except a few changes). And now it's award season and there is talk about how great The Departed is and it should get all these rewards. It may be great for a rerun, but that's about it. So if you care about quality films getting a fair chance don't buy or rent The Departed (or at the very least rent both The Departed and Infernal Affairs). Infernal Affairs is a great movie and it's only the first part of a trilogy that only gets better and better.

In other news, life still sucks and there's no end in sight. No I mean really really sucks. Not some teenage angst type of suck, but you're fucking numb type of suck. The Dr says I'm in shock and exhausted and time is all I have. Time is terribly slow in my part of the world at the moment.
