Take it anyway
By Jasmine Johnson
There is a freedom
That I find outside your shadow
A breath of air
When you walk away
And never look back
Cause you won’t see me waving
With the tears of joy
Drying on my smiling face
You’re gone and,
I can’t run fast enough
I can’t jump high enough
I can’t exalt loud enough
I can’t rejoice enough
Now that you’re gone!
I don’t miss the touch of your hand
Holding me into place
Beneath your hopeless emotions
Did you hear my sigh of relief
As you took her hand
And not mine
I’m so glad you came into my life
Only just to leave
You’re gone and,
I can’t run fast enough
I can’t jump high enough
I can’t exalt loud enough
I can’t rejoice enough
Now that you’re gone!
You’re still holding on
To the chapter of my heart
That I dedicated to you….
You are taking it with you?
Darling take it!
Anyway,
I don’t need those thoughts
Pinning me to the past
Holding back my full potential
I won’t suffer a twit
That couldn’t last
So now you’re gone and,
I can’t run fast enough
I can’t jump high enough
I can’t exalt loud enough
I can’t rejoice enough
Now that you’re gone!
