What Happened?
-Marguerite got raped while in St. Louis. The rapist got off scotch free, but was kicked to death shortly after. Marguerite thinks that she is the one to blame because she lied on the stand about Mr. Freeman touching her more then once. Marguerite and her brother bailey were sent back home to Stamps. The town was small and everyone was fascinated by the “out of towners”. Marge is sent to Mrs. Cullinan’s house to learn how to be a maid.
