Sexual Battery Arrest
Last night (11/3/5) a female UCR student went to an off-campus party with
her friends. At about 2:00am in the morning, she and her friends drove back
to campus and parked in Lot 21 when they were approached by three males who
reportedly met them at the party and followed them back in a truck. A
verbal argument occurred between the female UCR student and at least one of
these males in the parking lot. During this argument, one of them
approached her from behind and grabbed her buttocks. She spun around and
punched the suspect square in the face.
The victim and her friends left the area and called UCPD while members of
the other group threw trash on her vehicle and then attempted to drive away.
Our officers quickly responded and stopped this vehicle. The suspect was
arrested and the driver was cited for a vehicle code violation. The suspect
is not UCR student and will be facing a sexual battery charge.
The victim and her friends did a lot of things right. They stayed together,
remained calm and contacted UCPD as soon as they could. They gave very good
physical descriptions of the subjects and the vehicle.
