Took star for a walk along the canal today with my friend & her dog. I let her off the lead and she had a swin in the canal. She loved it and she is really tired now. I have been letting her off the lead a bit more lately so she can run around and she keeps comig back. She just likes chasing birds, but then that is what they were bred for, so she is just doing what comes naturally. She hasn't quite realised that to catch a bird you need a bit of stealth rather than bounding up and barking.
I've been hiding treats around the house for her to sniff out and find and I'm getting started on the training in earnest, but trying to do it in a fun way so it's more like a game. I really want to do the gundog training for her. I would love to take her out on a shoot, that's my ultimate goal.
She really is an excellent dog & I don't understand why anyone would treat her so badly & give her away.
