Last night was lovely...After dinner I went to the library and borrowed Velvet Goldmine, went to McCormick and watched it; I've been thinking about Safe since I've seen it and I needed to see something else by Todd Haynes. Plus, Mike has been raving about it so much I felt like I just had to check it out. The movie itself is incredibly homoerotic and sexy and Brian Slade is the act of sex incarnate. Very good movie.
I knew that Luciana Souza and Romero Lubambo were playing at Gates and I was planning on going eventually. So when I emerged into the light after the movie I found that there was a crowd of people gathered around Gates, many more than I had expected, and I stayed for the show. It was really amazing, and the crowd loved it as well. The ambiance, I think, was very cool, in the full sense of the word, but then again, bossa nova in general is a very cool genre of music. After the show Sherri told me that there was another party at Cedar, but I really didn't feel like going. Instead I met with Mike and Jim who invited me over to his place for a Johnny Cash party (i.e sitting around, drinking beer and listening to Johnny Cash)
So, Jim drove me, Matt, Mike and Rich over to his place, lots of other people were there, though most left shortly thereafter and I realised that I like Johnny Cash rather much. We chilled, drank a bit and talked about many different things and Rich, Mike and I finally departed around 4:30am, just as Jim was sipping his hot green tea. We walked back in the darkness, perpetually on the lookout for the potential hatchet murderers that Mike is so terribly afraid of, but thankfully we didn't run into any. However, Mike's reconnaissance skills proved invaluable when he noticed that the house right before the intersection looks exactly like the one from Amityville Horror. I simply love spooky walks home in the wee hours of the morning.
I woke up this morning around 11 and took a super-long, very nice and hot shower. Then I had to work, but at least I got to read the textbook for FNENS.
I should go eat something - I haven't had a full meal since 5:30 last night.
I love being a college student and everything that comes with it. I'm very pleased, very happy.
Paix.
