[The audio feed kicks into action.]

Oi, you lot. Been busy haven't ya?

Here's the plan. You all stop breaking shit and getting dead or hurt. Just, take a break or something.

[There's a pause and a thud. Sounds like Dos just set down something heavy.]

If you're looking for something to pass the time, there's plenty of work to be done around the place. ( Read more... )

Depends which one you're asking about.

The one you were just speaking...

[Hold up a second.]

You... sound extremely familiar.

You'd be lookin' for Joe, the cook. He's probably passed out in his room or something so call him up if you want him. Either that or check the kitchen.

[Have yourself a low chuckle, Anders.]

I'm the guy who saved your ass.

Right. I suppose I'll do that, then.

[And there's a longer silence. An awkward one at that.]

... That was you? I... that... [cough] I suppose I should thank you.

[Dos grins like a fiend. Why so awkward, Anders?]

Dos. I run the stables in this place.

[Listen for the grunt as he lifts yet another heavy thing.]

How'd you patch up that day?

[No reason! Really.]

Anders. Unless... you'd already heard.

[Which is possible, but hey, why not cover all bases?]

I lived. It's not so difficult to heal, once you regain your magic.

[Dos doesn't really pay much attention to names that aren't job related or in his face all the time. The memory jolt is a welcome one. Better to reconfirm the title than to be called 'dude with the feathers' by Dos.]

What, you're a healer?

[And a thud as he sets that heavy thing down.]

[Anders is perfectly happy not to be referred to by the feathers on his coat.]

Yes, I am. It's something of a specialty. Disease, injury... most things, short of death, I've taken care of at some point or another.

Hn. Fancy record you've got there, Doc.

[He almost sounds impressed. Only not quite.]

Heh, you're following the trend then. I haven't met a medic yet that I haven't had to scrape off the floor.

[Yep, still a cocky git.]

It comes with the vocation, unfortunately.

[Pause. And then it's time to talk before he realizes he should probably think.]

I suppose I should do something to better stand out, then.

[... what.]

[Dos makes an amused sound. There's yet another thud and the sound of a horse neighing before the Helcian replies.]

Oh yeah? How're you gonna do that?

[He hesitates. All right, that thought probably needed... more thinking.]

I suppose... I'll have to figure that out. At some point.

Good luck with that.

[It's Dos' turn to pause.]

Look, if you want to keep talking, you wanna come down to the carpentry house? The journal is a pain in the ass to hold while I'm working and I'm gonna be needing both hands.

Right. Of course.

It's... fine. I should go look for this... Joe. Do my own work, as it were.

[And then maybe sleep for a while. A long while.]

Eh, suit yourself.

[Another grunt. Whatever he's been carrying, that's seems to be the last of it. Dos huffs.]

Oh yeah, tell him I sent you. I dunno how Joe's gonna react to help. He's a stubborn ass.

[The latter is said with amusement. The bulk of the staff are pretty close knit.]
