... other than the few I know of, does anyone else have some affinity with making plants grow? We lost a lot of the wild-growing crops and herbs in the floods.

If you don't have a green thumb, I could use some help with transplanting herbs- in return I'll give you cuttings of the ones you want. They're really good for cooking and tea.

He might be impressed with the work done, but not so much with what you did to yourself to get the work done, Al.]

[Al nods, knowing that tone in Vincent's voice, but he goes to do that. Al's hands are already calloused and rough from work, meaning he's been doing a lot to get blisters at all. He uses clean water and soap.]

How have you been...?

[Vincent shrugs at the question. Cloud is Gone, Zack is gone, and Sephiroth is still around and probably has a lot of questions. He's not okay, he's not bad, he just ... is.]

How long have you been working out there?

I... all yesterday. And some of this morning.

[Al wordlessly winds his arms around Vincent, giving him a warm hug for a few seconds.]

[That hug says so much. So does the light squeeze on Al's arm as he pulls away. And then Vincent holds out his hands to Al, expecting him to show his palms so that he can inspect the damage.

... The last time he did this, Al couldn't feel anything. He'd just burnt himself making breakfast for Sasuke. They were in Vincent's house, the one that doesn't exist anymore because Koutarou and Killua destroyed it through one of their games.

Things had already been complicated by then. They hadn't gotten any easier.]

... Don't you have gloves for manual labor? You could even have made some.

[Al holds out his hands. The blisters are just below his fingers, some already broken, more than one having bled at one point. One or two have cropped up on his fingers.

He can't help but remember that time, how terribly sweet Vincent was.]

It doesn't hurt as much as it looks like.

They'll take a long time to heal if you don't see one of the healers.

[Given the place where they are, they'll keep breaking out at the slightest opportunity.

Just like that last time, Vincent removes the leather glove from his right hand, to make sure he doesn't brush it against the inflamed skin as he looks more closely.]

Just leave them like this for now. Bandaging them will only make it worse. Tell me what to do outside.

I'll go see Ms. Unohana- I need to make a delivery to her in any case.

I just need more holes dug outside, the same as the ones already started. I can show you where I need things planted.
