A bit. There are as many different ways of thinking as there are people. When the places mix, you... meet people who are different, and you learn what the world looks like from their end.

Time... isn't what matters. It's what takes place in your life that shapes you and makes you a better person, now how much time it took or how much passed. You can grow more in a week than you could in a year, depending on what's taking place.
