Kamui is a pureblooded vampire. Vampires can spread their vampirism to normal humans by having them swallow their blood.

We are unsure of whether this is the effect of the event, or Kamui's blood. We're not completely sure if I actually swallowed any. There was a good deal of it on my face so there is a high chance I did.

Because of the timing of the change we're inclined to believe this is the real thing.
