rooms + insurance

Last night I found out that I am not, in fact, insured for this. I was supposedly still insured with my parents, but my mother checked her administration and told me my name's not on it. And the landlord says his insurance doesn't include a tenant, either. So basically I'm screwed. I've calculated that what I've lost amounts to about six months' income and no matter how much I hate it that my jewelry's gone, it's mostly valuable goods that are gone, not actual money. Which is to say, if I'd lost six months' income, I'd be in more trouble than I am now - however worse this feels to me. So yeah, theoretically it could be worse. I may not be making sense right now

I spent all day househunting. One rejected me, one might reject me but it's only for one person so it's not really an option anyway, two more are in different cities.

One in Breda, which is half an hour away from here by train, an hour away from Utrecht where I have to be every day. It's a studio in an old villa, with a small room, private shower/bathroom, and a little attic large enough for a large bed and more, not high enough to stand. It costs €660,- euros a month. The attic is very light, the room is a bit dark. It's very, very clean (which is important to me). The woman in charge of the complex seemed to really like me and the boyfriend.

The second place is in Tilburg, in between my city and Breda. It's fifteen minutes by train from here, forty-five minutes away from Utrecht. It consists of two equally large rooms, with access to a roof terrace. We have a private toilet but we share the shower with a guy living upstairs. It's nice, there are wall closets and more space than in the studio in Breda, but it's - just filthy. And old. And the kitchen, oh my God, such a mess. If we decide to go live there, I might be arguing with the other tenant each day about the mess he leaves - the shower, the dishes, the kitchen stuff, everything's a mess. It's closer and cheaper and larger but it's definitely not perfect.
