Did I Party Too Hard Last Night? (Arrival OTA)

Feb 16, 2012 18:00

Faith had to deal with a lot of things in her life. Waking up on the ground wasn't terribly shocking. What was shocking was that she distinctly remembered going to sleep in a bed the night before. And it wasn't that she had simply rolled out of the bed. Oh no. She could see the sun through her closed lids ( Read more... )

Dean was taking a turn walking the fence parameter. Now that he had an idea of exactly what was on the other side of the fence, he definitely wanted to make sure that fence stayed intact. He had his usual .9mm tucked into his waistband and an assault rifle slung over one shoulder. These days, he never felt armed enough.

Fucking zombies, man.

He paused when he saw something moving ahead. Not like the creatures that attacked them during the supply run. This thing moved like a human. On closer inspection, it was human. At least visually. No one he knew, though.

"Hello?" He called to her, staying at a safe distance fro now. Just because she didn't look dangerous right off, didn't mean she wasn't. "You okay?"

((So sorry it took so long to reply. Been gearing up for finals at school and kind of lost focus on everything else.))

Faith jerked when she heard someone yell at her in the distance. She looked in the direction of where the voice came from, narrowing her eyes when she spotted the guy. Cute enough. "I think so!" she called back, making her way over to him slowly. "Where the hell am I?"

Faith wasn't terribly happy about being somewhere that she didn't fall asleep at. It figures that something weird would happen. When was her life NOT weird?

Ah, good. Zombies didn't answer. Not intelligibly anyway. He started walking toward her, trying to look as non-threatening as a clearly heavily armed man could look. He shrugged at the question.

"No idea. No one knows. I just woke up here a few days ago. Before that, I was in Tennessee."

She could see that he was armed, so she was on her guard, but still figured that she could take him if she so needed to.

"Great. Sounds like the story of my damn life. Weird shit is always happening to me," she grumbled.

"Welcome to the club. We have t-shirts." Weird shit? Story of his life. Boredom was a thing he'd only heard about.

He shifted his gear around to offer his hand. "Name's Dean."

"Dude, earned the shirt a long time ago," Faith admitted to him with a smirk. She had only heard of this 'boredom' thing herself.

She reached out and shook his hand. "Faith," she told him. "So what's the deal with this place, anyway?" A place that snatched her out of her bed. That seemed like lunacy, even for her life.

"No idea what the deal is." He shrugged and released her hand, shifting the gun strap on his shoulder. "Just woke up here one day. Me, my brother, a couple of other people. Everyone came from different places and nobody knows how they got here."

He glanced at the fence and the woods beyond. "And the place is crawling with shit that wants to kill us."

"Sounds like every day of my life," Faith commented about everything here wanting to kill people. "Kind of what my job is, actually. To deal with shit like that." Not that her job paid worth a shit or anything, but that wasn't why you did it.

"So, care to take a gal back to whatever passes as civilization around here? I know I'd love to get a good look at my surroundings."

"Not much of that around, but I'll give you the tour." He tipped his chin in the direction of the central part of the camp and headed that way. She was taking the whole thing well, thank goodness. Dean wasn't good with emotional outbursts. That was more Sam's speed.

She was also hot, so he really didn't mind being distracted from his security rounds. "We've got some basic living quarters cabins. One big meeting hall, slash kitchen, slash whatever. There's a medical facility, a shower and washing facility, and a mail room down this way. At the other end of the camp, there's storage sheds, a motorpool, and an armory."

Faith didn't even bat an eye at the situation. Sure, it was a little more extreme than even she was used to, but she was anything if adaptable. She definitely wasn't the type for emotional outbursts. Well, she wasn't the type to cry. She was more likely to get angry and punch things, but the prison shrink had helped her a lot with her anger.

"Sounds like the army." Or prison. She knew that people didn't like to hear that she was formerly in prison, though. It made them judge. Sure, she deserved every last bit of it, but right now first impressions were important. "And everyone just ended up...showing up here like I did?"
