Muse at the Beacon NYC / History Toronto

So. The presale for the October theatre tour started today and on sale first was the Beacon Theatre show in NYC on October 16th. The one that I said to myself I wasn't even going to consider getting tix for because it was all reserved seating, well not unless I happened to snag front row (genuine disbelieving lol).

Well... I got a front row ticket! Like right in front of Matt (maybe a little to the left of him). But the kicker? Fucking Ticketmaster and their dynamic pricing had it had $630 plus fees. I grabbed it once, noticed the price and initially balked. Then it became available again. I grabbed it, let it go. Again it showed up, I figured it was meant to be otherwise I'd regret it... so I bought it! Tell me guaranteed front row by Matt without having to queue for 12 hours isn't worth that... Well, it's worth it to me! Still, it freaking HURT.

The crowd energy may honestly suck at this show because of the assigned floor seating, and I won't get to meet all the awesome other fans I normally do hanging out in the queue, but hey, at least I won't get squished to death in the pit or have to fight for barrier. For once. I don't want to make this a regular thing. At least not yet. You hear me Muse? Pit until the day I die!

Still, the Beacon theatre looks gorgeous and I love old venues so I'm excited to see it. And I'll be part of something new and different for the band, seeing Muse for the first time at a seated show is going to be unique experience of its own.

But getting this gig completely upended my initially plans of going to Aftershock and then Chicago... though honestly, that trip was going to be so expensive I think I'm better off. But it kills me I won't be able to see MCR and metal!Muse for Aftershock! D: Even if I make a separate trip of Aftershock in addition to NY, it's still another $1500-2000 again! I just can't after the cost of this. I'm sad, but grateful for front row in NY so I'll shut up about it... I may try and enter the Jim Beam thing in KY though - we'll see how that goes! I am still tempted by Chicago though. I really am. But I really shouldn't.

So anyway. I'm going to NYC for the first time in October! Maybe I'll catch a Broadway show while I'm there, which is something I've always dreamed of doing!

Edit: WELL... not doing Chicago, but my friend that I queued with the first night in Mexico City had an extra general admission floor ticket for the Toronto show two nights before (10/14) and convinced me to go... so I'M GOING TO CANADA TOO!

I'm actually super psyched because I love Canada and sooo many of my favorite music artists when I was a young teen during the late '90s were part of the Canadian music export boom that happened around that time (Barenaked Ladies, Our Lady Peace, The Tea Party, Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morisette, etc), so visiting Toronto is pretty exciting! The venue is near the Danforth too, which is kinda iconic to me because of the "We bought an old house on the Danforth" line from "The Old Apartment", so I'm gonna nerd out over that. Ever though I probably won't have time for sightseeing because I'll be queuing for this one... I am still gonna be thrilled to be there!

So my shows will be:

October 14, 2022 at the History in Toronto
October 16, 2022 at the Beacon in NYC

concerts, muse, nyc, toronto
