I mean, I don't disagree with that... but DC seriously allowed this to be printed?
The same DC that censored Scott Snyder's writing for the Death Of The Family trade whenever Joker suggested anything remotely sexual or romantic about Batman? I mean, he couldn't even ask for a kiss or joke about tying a sock on the door, for fuck's sake.
I'm pretty shocked, I admit.
I never thought Tom King would be the one to go there. I never thought DC would have the nerve to print something like this. Sure, the difference between this and DotF is this is a Black Label book, but even they get censored (*cough*Batdick*cough*).
So...
Here's Joker and Catwoman's exchange from Tom King's Batman/Catwoman #10, all the while throwing punches at each other:
Joker: "All I asked for is a favor! Riddler would do it! Penguin...all of them! You think you're so much better and cleaner than the rest of us. Why? Just 'cause you #%@# him?!"
Selina: "And here it comes! How thrilling to be on the side of the rant! I'm a real hero now!"
Joker: "Aren't you so special. You don't think I could #@%#% him? I bet I'd do it better. I bet he'd finally be satisfied. Stay in a few nights."
I mean, that's pretty blatant.
Just... wow.
I love this book, btw. Kinda been hoping for this topic to be addressed between the two (seemed only natural given their relationship in the series and Joker's jealousy issues), but I really did not think it would consist of Joker flat out saying that.
Go Tom King for letting him speak his truth, finally. ;)
