Better Call Saul won't be taking calls for much longer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Breaking Bad prequel series will conclude after its sixth season. Season 5 of the spinoff premieres on Sunday, February 23.
A sixth season for Better Call Saul will put it one season ahead of its parent show, which only aired for five seasons. However, AMC aired Breaking Bad's final season in two parts, with the series totaling 62 episodes. Better Call Saul currently sits at 40 episodes after four seasons.
In April 2019, franchise star Giancarlo Esposito said that the plan was for the series to go on for six seasons. However, sources denied those claims at the time.
Better Call Saul is set several years before the events of Breaking Bad, and tells the story of Jimmy McGill as he transforms from a decent lawyer to the seedy character of Saul Goodman. The show features mainstays from the original series, including Esposito as Gus Fring and Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut.
Better Call Saul stars Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian and Giancarlo Esposito. The eight-episodes of Season 5 premiere Sunday, February 23 at 10 p.m. ET, followed on Monday, February 24 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
