California 2019.
My Chemical Romance.
Return.
I legit cried. Actual tears down my cheeks. I don't fucking care. I admit it. Been waiting six long years for this news!
Also, you know what's weird? Like a half hour before I got the Tweet notification about this I was listening to music in iTunes and I had it searched under "Ghost" because I was in the Halloween mood to listen to some Ghost tracks... and all of a sudden "The Ghost Of You" came on and it was probably the first time in AGES that I actually listened to MCR. And then... THIS.
Gee better get his ass in shape and stage ready, because he hasn't performed live in like 5 years. I also expect gray hair dyed and beard shaved. I want full Rock Star Gerard Way not Comic Book Gerard Way (tho I love him too). You hear me, Gee?
So awesome this was announced on Halloween / Frank's birthday too. :3
But tbh, I really want to know... Why now? Is it just because of Danger Days being set in 2019? They've been denying rumors all year. With Young Animal going into hibernation and the second series of Doom Patrol becoming a co-written book, then ending abruptly in January, I figured something was up. But I thought it was going to be Gerard doing solo stuff.
So perhaps 2020 will be MCR's year. New tour? New album? WE SHALL SEE.

My Chemical Romance End Six-Year Break, Announce Reunion Show
My Chemical Romance arose from their six-year hiatus Thursday to announce a Los Angeles concert, the band’s first show together since 2012.
After teasing fans earlier this week by refurnishing their social media accounts with new images, Gerard Way and company officially revealed their December 20th reunion gig at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall; tickets for the all-ages gig go on sale Friday at 12 p.m. local time at AXS.
“Like Phantoms Forever,” the band wrote on social media, a nod to the title of their 2002 debut EP.
My Chemical Romance ceased to exist in 2013 when Way alerted fans in a statement, “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band - it is an idea.”
However, rumors that The Black Parade rockers were reuniting began to bubble earlier this year when Joe Jonas, of the similarly reunited Jonas Brothers, said in an interview, “I’ve got some dirt. My Chemical Romance apparently were rehearsing next to us in New York recently… I thought they broke up, so I don’t know.”
My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero denied Jonas’ rumormongering in July, but did note that “anything is possible” in terms of a reunion.
My Chemical Romance last released their fourth studio album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys in 2010. Since the band’s split, Way has focused on his solo career (2014’s Hesitant Alien) and his comic book work; his graphic novel The Umbrella Academy was recently adapted as a Netflix series.

My Chemical Romance to Reunite: All the Details for Their Comeback
Happy Halloween! After plenty of reunion rumors in recent months (and plenty of false alarms) it looks like My Chemical Romance, the unofficial official band of Halloween since 2004, is doing it for real this time.
Rumors began swirling earlier Thursday (Oct. 31), when the band launched an official Instagram page for the first time and made various other updates across its socials. Then, the band posted an image along with the words, "FRIDAY DECEMBER 20TH, 2019, SHRINE EXPO HALL, LOS ANGELES, CA."
Additionally, AXS posted a web page where on Friday, fans can purchase tickets to the Goldenvoice-promoted comeback show set for Dec. 20 at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The venue posted details about the show, too.
The Gerard Way-fronted rock band broke up in 2013, three years after releasing its most recent album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Since then, Way and guitarists Frank Iero and Ray Toro have released solo projects and bassist Mikey Way joined a band called Electric Century. Way has also stayed in the public eye with his Netflix-adapted comic series The Umbrella Academy.
Are more reunion shows on the way? Perhaps even new music? We shall soon see. Billboard has reached out to reps for the band and will update this story as more details become known.
