According to Billboard, TOOL's "Ænima" has re-entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 10. The set - which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 1996 - was released via digital retailers and streaming services for the first time on August 2, along with most of the band's catalog. The album bounds back on to the list with 33,000 equivalent album units earned, of which 18,000 were in album sales.
In other news, TOOL's latest single, "Fear Inoculum", the title track of the band's long-awaited new album, has become the longest song in history to enter the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. With a running time of 10 minutes and 23 seconds, the track has landed at No. 93 on the survey in its first week of release.
The 85-minute, seven-song "Fear Inoculum" album arrives on August 30. A limited-edition version of the set, priced at $45, will come with a four-inch HD screen featuring exclusive video footage, a USB charging cable, a two-watt speaker and a 36-page insert book.
Drummer Danny Carey told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that TOOL never thinks about radio airplay when he and his bandmates write songs. "It's obvious when songs have that solid of a hook to 'em and just have a more straight-ahead groove and aren't quite as long maybe as some of the other ones are," he said. "So it just makes sense. But we don't try to write the songs to have that direction by any means, you know, we just kind of do what we do, and if we're lucky enough to get a song that has that type of a hook or a hit potential, then we go with it."
In a cover story on the band by Revolver magazine, guitarist Adam Jones spoke about the meaning of the title "Fear Inoculum". He explained, "That has to do with getting older, too. Things like, 'I'm gonna wear socks with sandals. I don't give a fuck what people think. I'm just gonna be comfortable.' [Laughs] So it's about the little things in life. It's making those choices that are important to you and moving on and growing."
Singer Maynard James Keenan added: "I feel like this is [about] wisdom through age, through experience. Hopefully through aging you do find wisdom in some of the things you've encountered. Learning from your mistakes, learning from your successes. So if anything is a broad stroke of this album, it would be embracing where we are right now, acknowledging where we've come from and some of the things we've grown through."
TOOL has yet to announce tour plans for "Fear Inoculum".

Every Tool Album Is in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 Right Now
The Billboard 200 has never looked as beautiful as it does right now - every one of Tool's albums is currently sitting in the Top 20.
Tool finally gave in to the modern methods of music consumption less than two weeks ago when they added their whole discography to digital and streaming services, like Spotify and Apple Music. Just days later, they released "Fear Inoculum," the title track of their upcoming fifth album, as well as their first new song in 13 years.
The single broke records as it became the longest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100, and their 1996 release Ænima broke the Top 10 for the second time. As of yesterday, all four of their albums are in the Top 20, not including their EP Opiate.
Ænima currently sits at No. 10, Lateralus is at No. 16, 10,000 Days at No. 18 and Undertow at No. 19. Hits Daily Double predicted the four albums would share the same region of the chart last week. If the albums stay in the Top 20 for the next few weeks, they may even land a fifth one when Fear Inoculum drops on Aug. 30.
