Muse playing Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg

Sep 20, 2018 18:57

Surprise gig tomorrow night (9/21) in Germany! I'm going to take a guess and say we'll be getting live debuts of "The Dark Side", "Something Human", and possibly even "Pressure". A livestream sure would be nice... but I don't think we'll be getting one. :/

My question is... and I noticed this immediately lol... WHY ARE THEY DRESSED LIKE THE ENCHANTMENT UNDER THE SEA "JOHNNY B GOOD" SCENE FROM BACK TO THE FUTURE

MATT BELLAMY AS MARTY MCFLY AHHH (LOOK THERE WAS EVEN AN "MB" ON THE PODIUM OMG WHAT)

ALSO DO THEY KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE BTTF
AND HOW MJF WAS LIKE MY FIRST EVER CHILDHOOD CRUSH (besides Goofy lol)

TEEN WOLF AND BTTF WHAT NEXT DOC HOLLYWOOD I MEAN STOP ALREADY

Please let this promo be from the "Pressure" video shoot, because I need to see them recreate this scene for real. :D

p.s. Muse are also lined up to play Taratata in France once again on Sept 24th. They've appeared on the show before back in 2009 and 2012. Always an interesting interview with the host and they play 3-4 songs, including a cover, so... should be good. Guess they're doing some European promos before the album drops (including another French Awards Show appearance in Nov), which is all cool as long as I can see these clips online somehow. What I really want is to see them on American TV... Another Saturday Night Live appearance, late night talk shows, etc. Pretty please?

EDIT: "PRESSURE" LYRICS HAVE BEEN RELEASED via the Muse phonebot:

They MUST be playing it live tonight to release this today, right? UGH I NEED A LIVESTREAM! At the very least, the release of the single and video should be coming very soon... like next week, I'd say. :D

Here's a fan translation that I tweaked a bit based on what I'm hearing:

I'M TRAPPED AND MY BACK'S UP AGAINST THE WALL
I SEE NO SOLUTION OR EXIT OUT
I'M GRINDING IT OUT, NO ONE CAN SEE
THE PRESSURE IS GROWING EXPONENTIALLY
I'M TRYING TO KEEP UP TO SPEED WITH YOU
YOUR NAME CHANGING IS OSCILLATING ME
I'M HITTING THE GROUND AND SPRINTING
I'M FALLING BEHIND NOW I'M CHECKING OUT

PRESSURE BUILDING
PRESSURE BUILDING
DON'T PUSH ME
DON'T PUSH ME
LET ME GET OFF THE GROUND
TO YOU I'M NO LONGER BOUND
DON'T STOP ME, DON'T CHOKE ME

I NEED YOU OUT OF MY HEAD
YOU'VE GOT ME CLOSE TO THE EDGE
I'M FEELING THE PRESSURE
I CAN'T BREAK OUT
NO ONE CAN HEAR ME SCREAM AND SHOUT
GET OUT OF MY FACE, OUT OF MY MIND
I SEE YOUR CORRUPTION
I'M NOT BLIND
I'LL CARRY THE BURDEN AND TAKE THE STRAIN
AND WHEN I AM DONE I WILL MAKE YOU PAY

PRESSURE BUILDING
DON'T PUSH ME
DON'T PUSH ME
LET ME GET OFF THE GROUND
TO YOU I'M NO LONGER BOUND
DON'T CUT ME DON'T THWART ME
I NEED YOU OUT OF MY HEAD
YOU'VE GOT ME CLOSE TO THE EDGE
DON'T PUSH ME
DON'T PUSH ME
LET ME GET OFF THE GROUND
TO YOU I'M NO LONGER BOUND
DON'T STOP ME
DON'T BLOCK ME
I NEED YOU OUT OF MY HEAD
YOU'VE GOT ME CLOSE TO THE EDGE

I'm pretty sure Bellamy mentioned this song in a tweet response to a fan asking if he ever felt pressure from fans to write more rock songs... (edit: https://twitter.com/MattBellamy/status/1020461142341083137) In light of that, the vitriol in these lyrics is pretty fucking intense. It kinda creeps me out, but I love it. Like, even if this really IS his response to the bitchy and bitter section of the fanbase, I'm down with it. Because I'll happily take dark, angry as fuck Bellamy with all his underlying S&M overtones (yeah, they're there) ANYTIME. That's totally my jam and there hasn't been enough of it in the last 10+ years. And I'm pretty sure this might be the angriest Muse song he has ever written. Lyrics shocked me a bit, tbh. Like, dude. You ok?

Thematically, seems like "Pressure" could have easily fit on Drones too. I'm definitely getting some "Handler" allusions and vibes. Which again, makes me very happy. Because I've been worried Muse would completely abandon anything Drones-like for their next album. I do love my Drones.

Anyways. This song is going to fucking sexy, I know it. I cannot wait to hear the riffage!
