Dream on no more: Aerosmith has announced that it will be trading in its tour bus for a residency in Las Vegas starting next spring.
“We decided to do Vegas. Viva Las Aerosmith!” said lead singer Steven Tyler during yesterday’s announcement, which the band made right before performing at New York City’s Rockefeller Center for the “Today” show’s summer concert series.
The Boston-born band will be playing 18 shows at the Park Theater, in what will collectively be called Deuces Are Wild, named after its 1994 hit and screaming Sin City. While the gang shared that the series will kick off in April 2019, they all rocked their best poker faces when it came to revealing any in-depth details.
“We can’t give it away,” Tyler teased about their anticipated stretch on The Strip, adding, “We’re gonna keep it raw, we’re gonna keep it who were are. There are gonna be no changes. It’s not gonna be Flory-Dories, it’s gonna be beautiful and rocked out and we’re gonna get a chance to use some special effects that haven’t been used before.”
Guitarist Joe Perry promises that while the residency will still stay true to the group’s essence and its decades-long legacy, he did say that performing at a fixed location would enable these dogs to do new tricks.
“We wanna bring a show in there that we really can’t do when we’re on the road, on a regular tour,” Perry said. “We wanna bring a show that still has Aerosmith and all the guts of Aerosmith but has a whole other element to it that we’ve never been able to do before.”
And just in case there’s any room for confusion, drummer Joey Kramer reiterated that the vibe would be all their own.
“We’ll bring you into Aerosmith world, the history behind our almost 50 years of being together,” he said. “Everything is going to be Aerosmith, Aerosmith, Aerosmith.”
These guys will be hitting the stage for their Vegas run between April 6 and July 9 of next year. An exclusive presale for Aero Force One members began today, and tickets for the general public will be available to purchase on Aug. 24.
