[Ema wants nothing more to do with beer for a long, long time, possibly ever. She is, however, curious about the bar after listening to a couple of drone doctors talking about it, so here she is to check out the scenery.

Oh hey, it's Sniper! Well, a little social time couldn't hurt, especially since she spent the better part of her Memorial Day weekend nursing a hangover, copying notes, and avoiding a certain German prosecutor like the plague. She approaches.]

Fancy seeing you at ground level.

I know, I almost forgot what it was like walking around after hours.

[He smirked as best as he could manage and nodded to the seat beside him.]

Have a seat, we'll tell the bar tender I've become a terrible alcoholic and you're my only ride home.

[Ema takes a seat.] Plausible enough cover story.

So, how was your holiday?

Tiring... So I decided to take a holiday from my holiday.

[Though thinking on why it was tiring cause him to let his smile slip. Something grim was on his mind.

A moment later and he was smiling again, taking a slow pull from his beer.]

I'll buy you a drink for the company, what are you having?

[Ema frowns a little--she saw the brief chance in his expression. However she doesn't pry... for now.]

Water, coffee, soda... anything but alcohol. [She rubs at her eyes a little.] Made that mistake last week, and I'm still dealing with the consequences.

[He nods.]

I hear you. Coffee it is.

[Ordering her drink. He continued with his pint.]

So enjoy your holiday a little too much I take it?

The holiday was actually miserable; I was sick through part of it because of all the drinking I did right before it, and then spent the rest of it feeling stupid and copying notes.

[She accepts the coffee from the barkeep with a small nod and starts dumping sugar packets into it.] Last Wednesday a cohort from back home and I decided to get drunk off our asses. It... well, we ended up really drunk. Good decisions are not made when you're that drunk.

[He nodded, just letting her vent a bit about it.]

Never are. I avoid drinking too heavily myself.

So regrets all around I take it?

Something like that. [She starts to sip her coffee and realizes it's still too hot to drink without burning her tongue, so she sets the mug back down.] You're a smart man, not overdoing it.

Not so much smart as I enjoy getting paid well. Not much use for an alcoholic with a sniper rifle.

By the way, I never got to ask you. How did the talk with Crowe go?

Good point.

The talk went okay. He said he's holding up and trying not to be a burden on anyone, which is a good thing I guess. He didn't seem to be falling apart or suffering any moreso than anyone else here.

Surprised that you asked me to check on him, though.

[He'd listen and nod. Mostly what he assumed, but it was at least good confirming.]

Why's that?

[Slight shrug.] He didn't say. Just seemed shocked about it--who knows?

You're right, though. He's a good kid, the kind that could easily be chewed up and spat out.

Well, he doesn't much trust me though I can understand the sentiment. I don't think he has had to deal with my kind much in his life.

As for that bit, lets keep it to ourselves. For now he's tricking himself into thinking he'll be fine and that can hold him for a bit. Hopefully just long enough.

Well, yeah. Most teenagers don't just hangout with professional assassins.

And I wasn't planning on advertising anything about his ability to cope. Who knows, he might surprise us.

[Nods, listening to her and responding.]

That is the goal.

[Something else came to mind so he quickly swapped topics from his goals.]

You have been around town a bit more since the last time right?
