i'm not sure i think of empathy so much as an emotion... more of a capacity to predict, perceive, relate to, and/or give a shit about the emotions of those around you.
i have a hard time relating to people who don't strike me as empathetic. they certainly exist, but i don't know how to interact or communicate with them.
