Conspicuous metal shards? In my car?
Funny story. So i was driving to school, just got over the bridge, and suddenly i hear this tremendous pop and then metal scraping on the pavement. I pull over and see this shiny metal object stuck in the bottom of my car. So i'm all like "OH SHI-" thinking maybe it's my catalytic converter (having no prior knowledge of where the thing is actually located). I then made the decision that i REALLY have to get to class thinking if it gets me there it gets me there, and if it doesn't, oh well at least i have a damn good excuse with concussive pops and grinding noises. so i drive off, very awkwardly, feeling and hearing the annoying scraping every time there's a bump in the road... and there are many on Rt 2.
Fortunately for me, it wasn't MY catalytic converter. Apparently someone lost theirs and i happened to run over it and it got lodged in my freakin' car, going right through the frame and somehow the carpet stopped it from going any further. I just jacked up the car, hit the dent in the carpet with a hammer and out it popped.
