Holy shit.
So ... soft coloring has *never* worked for me. I dunno, something about my drawing/lineart style or something.
Well in the past few days I was playing around and came up with something that sort of worked. It looked nice enough and was pretty quick.
I used this to CG the chibi I commissioned from house_of_raila awhile ago for site layout purposes .... I decided I still wanted to use it, but the colors needed a revamp to match the new layout.
I got this:
Not too bad, though I've certainly seen more impressive coloring. And it's also not with my own lineart.
I decided to play with it a little more, since it's slightly faster than my crazy detailed solid/cell shading. Since I never finished that Satoru drawing I posted last week, I decided it was a perfect test subject ... that and I wanted to color it up to use in a different site layout.
Yeah, yeah. I think this is working for me.
Edit: Editing for a more recent update on the Satoru pic progress. Ended up drawing more on it to make it a full-length figure.
