Outside, X waited with Zero for Harpuia to answer the door. He glanced over at Zero. He knew Zero had to be somewhat nervous. Zero had been keeping his distance from Harpuia, since his arrival in their world, because he knew Harpuia had issues with his own Zero.

Which prompted a long, long moment of silent, wide-eyed blinking once he saw who stood on the other side.

X sobered as Harpuia spoke up. "I've heard similar about other Zeros in future timelines. That he didn't remember anything about his past when he was woken out of stasis in the future..."
X frowned slightly. "...Are you sure he was trying to kill the real X?"

At the talk of his alternate, he quieted, wanting to hear Harpuia's response to X.

"Dog of the Resistance -- he did whatever they directed him to do, with no mind of his own."
There was no mistaking the bitterness in Harpuia's voice.

"Sledding sounds like a great idea. I heard the slope is even bigger this year." X grinned over at Zero.

He then shook his head in disbelief at hearing about the slope. "Did they manage to get ahold of a loader to make it this year or what?"

Then he fidgeted, and flicked a glance toward X.
[Phantom ...? *anxiety-over-leaving*]

X glanced down at Harpuia at the question. [We won't be going far. It's at one of the outbuildings on base. Does he want to come with? Maybe you could tuck him into your coat.]

Axl wasn't in his quarters, though, so X just raided his closet and left him a message. Then he headed back to Harpuia's quarters.

A minute or two of shoulder-rolling and finicky readjustments, and he had it on and properly fastened up. A few more minutes, and his winglets stopped shifting about beneath the fabric of the coat.
"Ready. I think."
