Much to his delight, Akabane had applied for and been accepted as a book sorter in the library. It wasn't nearly as entertaining as his old Transporter job, but at least it was quiet and the many books gave him a sort of familiar comfort.

When he saw the young lady browsing the shelves by him, he put on a pleasant smile. "Is there anything in particular I can help you find, my dear?"

Dahlia turned to the man and put on her sweetest grin. "Ah, no, nothing, really. I was just looking for some books to pass the time, that's all. Are you working here?"

"Indeed I do, although I have only been employed as of this morning. But please, if you have any questions then do feel free to ask them."

"Well, thank you! I'll make sure to." Dahlia blushed slightly. "My name is Dahlia Hawthorne. What is your esteemed name, sir?"

"As do I, my dear." Not that Akabane believed she would be all that interesting to him in the end, but it was rather entertaining to watch people get the wrong impression of him.

"Now, is there any particular genre you are searching for? Or how about a specific book?"

"Romance, I think." She touched a finger to her cheek in thought. "I'm really very fond of romance novels... Do you know if there are any of those here?"

"Ah, of course. A fitting genre for a lovely lady such as yourself."

Akabane turned, still glancing at her from over his shoulder. "If you would please follow me, I can show you where our romantic novels are shelved."

The funny thing was, it wasn't even a lie. They were a guilty pleasure of hers, even if the characters were stupid and vapid.

She nodded and followed him as he led the way. "Thank you so much! I'm completely hopeless when it comes to libraries... I've never gotten the hang of them."

He chuckled. "Not to worry, my dear. I'm certain that you shall learn your way around this particular library soon enough."
