Kanji's curiousity had just gotten the better of him. He had to know if there was some sort of sewing kit or something at the shop. It was...on sale right? What harm could come from buying something like that?

He eventually found his way to the shop, after some running around in circles, dammit this place was huge, it was easy to get lost in. Anyways, he conversed with the person, and purchased his own sewing kit. It was finally something that felt familiar to him, it felt good to have something like this in his possession again. Next- he needed some fabric. He just hoped to god no one was around to see this but...he also purchased fabric. Kanji could easily make his own clothes with this, he didn't need to spend anymore CP now. Hah!

Just as he was turning around with his stuff, someone ran into him. Luckily he hung onto his own bag with dear life, but sadly the sewing kit he was just about to put in his bag had fallen to the ground as well. Aw dammit!

"Watch where you're frickin' goin'!"

Ah-...it was another girl. Tch. Instead of apologizing, Kanji just clicked his tongue and knelt down to help her pick up the contents of her bag....wh...where did his sewing kit go?!

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry--!!" Madoka flails a little bit, unsure of herself and worried. "I wasn't looking where I was going, I'm sorry... huh?"

She looks at a small box she was in the middle of putting into her own bag. This isn't hers! It's obviously a sewing kit, and she wonders why he's getting that. She looks up at him sheepishly, and holds it out.

"Is this yours? I was just picking things up without thinking..."

Oh shit- oh god dammit! She's seen him buying something like that! His big bad guy reputation is ruined! Now she's going to laugh at him, and say that he's some kinda weirdo, or a gay! In one swift motion, he swiped it outta her hands, and stuffed it into his own bag.

"It...it ain't like that, s'not what you think! I...I uh-...n-need it for sewin' up my wounds from after I'm done kickin' peoples asses, yeah! Yeah that's it!"

He was so brilliant.

Kanji was about to be over and done with that conversation when he noticed her dress she had just bought. Without even thinking, he narrowed his eyes and got closer to her. Grabbing at the hem of her dress, he started to inspect it. Personal space was something he was not aware of when he noticed sloppy work. "This shit ain't done right...tch- someone seriously didn't know what they were doin' when they sewed this together. Sure it looks okay from a distance, but I--..."

Oh. Oh his cover was blown ...frick!

"Huh?"

Madoka is bewildered by the flurry of activity; she edges back a little bit when he takes the hem of her dress. That's too close to flashing her underwear! The frilly white slip underneath it is see-through, after all. She blushes a little bit, and takes the hem from his hands.

But she does feel a bit disappointed to hear that the dress she spent money on isn't very good, and looks it over. "Is it really not very good...?" She has absolutely no clue that he might be embarrassed about that. It doesn't feel very strange to her-- certainly it's a little odd for someone as tough looking as him to know, but it's not bad!

He had completely forgotten about keeping his little sewing antics a secret, ah well, if only one person knew it wouldn't be so bad, right? Maybe he could finally make some friends in here so he wouldn't have to hide everything like this.

"Jus'...jus' don't move okay?" And with that, Kanji began to walk around her, inspecting her dress, "it ain't bad, but it ain't the best either. If you give it to me, I can spice it up a bit. Put on some designs, fix the sewin', the works."

He gestured to the bag of goodies he was holding, "I jus' bought some fabric 'n shit, I was gonna make myself some clothes, much cheaper than buyin' stuff from home, you know? I-if ya want I can make you some more stuff too..." he just hoped that she wasn't going to make fun of him for spilling his biggest secret like that...

She brightens up a bit at the offer to fix the dress. It's a cute design, but she knows next to nothing about clothing and sewing. Then he brings up making things for her, and she actually smiles. It's true-- that would be much cheaper! And cheaper is good, considering how she has to save up for her friend's reduced sentence.

"You can really do that? I don't know how to even patch a hole... I'm not very good with my hands, I guess, so I think it's really amazing you can do something so complex..." She says it all with a clearly admiring tone to her voice. "I'd really love to wear clothes you made! I could pay you, and a friend of mine would probably be interested too! We have to save up for a reduced sentence for her, so every little bit we can save is good."

Madoka may or may not have made his day.

When she went on about how she would like to wear his clothing, or even have other friends that would be interested, he couldn't help but smile at that. This whole time, he had felt like there was some kind of heavy weight on his shoulders, but he felt much lighter after this little interaction.

D..did he just make a friend? Senpai would be so proud of him!

"N-no you don't have to pay me...I mean- that would help in the long run for me gettin' more candy but I jus' can't take your money from ya. I know how precious CP is 'round here."

Reduced sentence? She's putting all of her money in reducing a friend's sentence...? For some reason, that just made Kanji real fired up, "you're right, dammit! Every goddamn penny-...er...C-Cast Point counts! You want CP?! You got CP! I'll start sewin' and sellin' it to boot! Yeah! Watch out Deadman Wonderland, I'm openin' up my own textile shop! Ain't no one gonna stop me! I'll help ya out--....uh..."

In all the excitement, he hadn't even introduced himself, "uh..dude- I don't even know your name. I-I'm Kanji Tatsumi, in my second year of high school....well I would be- if I wasn't in this shitty prison."

"At least let me pay you for the fabric! It wouldn't be fair if I just had some for free, you'd put so much hard work into it for nothing..." And she laughs a little at his getting all fired up. It's not a mocking laugh, but one that is just happy. "Thank you, so much... I'm only here for two weeks, but she's here for six months. I want to help her, so if you'd help as well, we shouldn't have much trouble! But don't worry too much... I don't want you to hurt."

And then he introduces himself. "I'm Madoka Kaname! I'm in middle school. I think you can keep at school while you're here... it's only three hours a day, but it pays."

[tatsumisicle]

He frowned, "o-okay you can pay me somethin' but I had better not see a shitload of cash or else!" he raised his fist at her, shaking it.

Going to school, in a prison? He knew this place was different but jeez- this was completely out of the ordinary! "Tch- I hated goin' to school back in Inaba but...but if it frickin' pays, why not right?"

She laughs a little. He's a bit overenthusiastic, but he's really a good person.

"I'm not very good at school... I'm kind of dumb. But I liked it, because it meant I could see my friends every day. I hope it means more of the same for here. We get enough for a meal from the money."

"D-...do'ya think uh-..." Hoh boy, how would he explain this one, he looked away from her and rubbed the back of his neck, "think we could maybe be studyin' partners? I realize we ain't in the same grade but, shit- if I have someone else I know at the school here it won't be so bad goin', y-you know?"

He paused, "you don't have to I was jus' suggestin'..."

"Sure," she says. "Though I mean it when I say I'm not very smart! I might not be very good help. But I really would like to study with you, it seems like it'd be a lot of fun."
