SCIENCE FICTION AS AN INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY Module Code: PI1115 This module is an introduction to some of the key questions raised by philosophical enquiry.
Philosophical enquiry involves gaining critical distance from everyday assumptions, often using
science fiction scenarios to make points about scepticism, personal identity or the structure of the
physical world. Using accessible science fiction texts the module will raise key questions from
selected areas of philosophy, introducing students to the critical and experimental aspects of
philosophical thinking.

moons. We might even tell you a little on Red Dwarfs and the future of the Earth.
SACREDNESS & SPIRITUALITY Module Code: RB2241

theologies. The module will explore the different types of religious ritual, rites and symbolism
associated with a range of cultures, and expound contrasting definitions of sacredness and
spirituality. The module will also analyse the impact theology has had on political and social
constructs, and investigate the changes modernity has inaugurated on the meaning and value of
sacredness and spirituality.
