WARNINGS: 'HEROES' SPOILERS AND SHIPPER-Y M3 (MOHINDER/MATT WITH MOLLY) COMMENTS.
Matt: Wow, could they have picked a girl less like Mohinder for him? I'm sorry, but the whole Daphne thing just screamed of I'm Not Happy, But Pretending's Better Than Nothing At All. All their scenes just had this odd sadness to them as though they were trying to be something they weren't: normal, happy, in love. It was a little like watching 'The Wizard of Oz' for the first time since you were real little and having the whole thing in sepia: you know some thing's wrong, but you're just not quite sure what.
It was fantastic to see Molly again though and I was well pleased with the fact that she never called Speedster "Mom". Also Daniella? BIGGEST BABY I'VE EVER SEEN! She even looked huge in Matts arms!
Mohinder: Ha! Totally called Mohinder becoming an ugly bug. And yes, I totally believe he is a bug; listen to the background sound every time he's on: it's covered with the hissing of cockroaches. Plus he's totally going through the bug life stages: Mating (with Maya, how much did I love the fact that he won't even touch her anymore, BTW), Feeding (You just know he eat that guy he pulled in at the end. Alright, minds out of the gutter, you pervs) and Molting.
I love that he keeps a recorded diary, you just get the feeling that he has a whole closet full of used tapes full of deep thoughts and random happenings. I like the idea that the opening and closings statements he some times gives are actually diary entries like ST Captain Logs.
I also loved the feeling I got that he hasn't left his lab since he started molting. I bet Matt and Molly waited for years before giving up, maybe they're still waiting...
Tracy: I'm actually starting to like her. Just... Hmm, that scene where she calls the police only to accidentally freeze the phone and end up telling her secret to cold plastic in her empty room; the acting in that just broke my heart and made me wish to hug her even if I'd never make it out alive. I liked that Nathan saved her and showed her that she wasn't alone and had the biggest, stupidest grin on my face when they revealed that she because First Lady.
Hiro and Ando: It's about time Ando showed some spine! The way Hiro was treating him was inexcusable and I'm glad Ando finally told him so. I hope Hiro gets a bit smarter now.
Peter: STOP KILLING NATHAN!! My gods. I gasped so hard when Pete slammed him against the wall (I think I actually let out a strangled "NO!"). I liked that they managed to make him seem heroic, seem idealistic without making him so much of an idiot this episode.
The part where Pete acquires Gabriels ability? Utterly brilliant. The acting from Milo was Grade A stuff you could just see the switch in him.
I love that his knowledge of his family just got a bit of an overload of new people; the looks on his face as finds out Gabriel is his brother and Claire is his niece were priceless. I'm not even a Claire/Peter 'shipper and I still totally read his expression as "OMG, wrong feelings, WRONG FEELINGS!".
I really wish they'd stop doing close ups of his mouth, it's very distracting and not in a good way...
"You already are." Yes, take that, Pete!
Gabriel: Oh, *clutch him to my heart* just when I thought I couldn't love him more. I think I scared my parents (whom I was watching the show with) a bit during his scenes as I tend to want to talk to the show as it's happening and I kinda spoke Gabriels lines before he did E.G. I literally growled "HIS NAME IS GABRIEL" at the tv when Pete called him Sylar.
I utterly loved the fact that his son is named Noah. I actually squee a little bit.
OMG, Father!Gabriel was just the best thing ever! He was just so cute throughout the whole thing with the making of waffles, the fact that he warmed the syrup and his interactions with everyone especially Noah:
"What's The Magic Word?"
"Abracadabra"
"Well...That's a magic word, close enough. *pours syrup*"
It's like he'd finally found his place in the world.
What the heck is Petes problem? I mean Gabriel basically says 'I was an addict thus I don't use my powers anymore' and Pete still pushes him to paint the future? Good thing Gabriels vice wasn't drugs Peter probably would have brought him heroin.
I wonder if Gabriels apron (*Official White House Seal* "Hail to the Chef") was a gift from Nathan or just an inside joke about season one. I kinda loved that they even went so far as to have an upbeat piano version of 'Hail to the Chief' playing in the background.
Zach really is a brilliant actor. The moment when Noah died? Oh, he just broke my heart. I really liked the way he asked with his last breath, all broken and hoarse, for Peter to save, not just him, but "us".
Claire: OMG, what the fuck was wrong with her?! She was totally delusional! "I'm going to make you feel all the pain of every one of [the people you killed]", bitch, it's YOUR FAULT THEY'RE DEAD!! You and your little gang. If you had waited till Pete was out of the house that contained a CHILD none of that would have fricking happened!! YOU caused the death of Gabriels son which means YOU cause the explosion. I hope that knowledge burns in you for the rest of your unholy existence.
General: Love Future!episodes. I swear they are second only to Flashback!episodes.
I love how some things that Sylar said in the first season are coming back, coming true:
About Peter: "I remember you... You're like me aren't you?"
"When I was a kid... I used to wish some stranger would come and tell me my family wasn't really my family."
"Turns out you're the villain, Peter. I'm the hero"
