My Halloween:
-It rained all evening.
-I played a round of A Touch of Evil.
-Samhain party at the Celtic Studies department of my Alma Mater.
-I watched an episode of the Vampire Princess Miyu anime. It involved dolls. The VPM OVA was one of my gateway anime - I used to rent in at Hollywood video.

I'd recommend it. It's like Arkham Horror but with a Colonial Gothic theme. I assume you've tried Arkham Horror - both games involve visiting locations with your character to accumulate goodies to use against one of multiple end-boss villains. There are two modes - a cooperative game where the players team up against a souped-up boss before the town falls into darkness, or a competitive game where the players individually hunt a weaker monster and try to trip each other up. I've mostly played the former.

Strengths:
-A general sense of fun that doesn't quite diminish the spooky mood. The art is obviously pictures of the creators' friends with some photoshop filters added.
-A large selections of heroes and villains, including some villains you can download from the website.
-Reasonable playing time: 2-3 hours.

Weaknesses:
-If you're playing with the expansions, there's not a lot of reason to visit the outlying areas unless you're really bored of the base town or you're playing against one of the villains who requires you to run around.
-Selecting the characters randomly(per the rules) feels lame. We usually have everyone draw three and pick the one they want.
-Some of the event cards are pointless if you're playing cooperatively.

So, like I thought, it has nothing to do with the ridiculous Orson Welles movie.
