Two paths that should never cross: Chapter one

Jan 10, 2009 06:05

Disclaimer: I don't own Silent Hill or Resident Evil. I'm just messing with the characters. I promise to put them away in more or less, the same shape I snagged them from for the fic. Rating may go up.

AN: This takes place more in the book story line than the game for Resident Evil. I don't own Rebecca or hell most of the characters that are in this. The idea came when I was chatting with some friends in an RP community that I belong to. We were having fun with the fact that my Becky Chambers was so popular with the guys (Hey she's like everyone's baby sister right? Okay… so maybe not Claire's….) anyway, that Community that I'm in is a mix of characters from both Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

And yes… the main pairings are: Billy Coen/Rebecca Pyramid head/Rebecca May be more added later.

Man… writing it that way…. Becky's a slut! XD Anyway, Konami and Capcom own most of the characters. Those who aren't owned by them are either extras I made up, or other players in the game. (Most likely I made characters up!) And I'm fudging around with a few details for this so that it would work for a fic. After all I had to figure out someway that the two games would co-exist without being games…

If the muses have their way… May be a few Yaoi pairings too. Keeping the muses curbed really! *Yelps as one of the muses throws something at her. * Okay… I'll have to slip in a few scenes… *Shudders* I should get tamer muses. Or take away the key to the liquor cabinet…

People, grab your brain bleach, you're going to need it.

Two Paths that Should Never Cross

Written by the Techy Mage

Just another day in Paradise

Rebecca Chambers turned to raspberry one of the teenage boys catcalling her and her ‘cousin’ Heather.  The two had been playing the role of cousins since she had come to Portland Maine a month ago.

David had dropped her off at his friend’s house to hide her for a while after they had gotten away from Exeter.  Being the last remaining Bravo from Raccoon City.  The Alphas were already squirreled away to Europe, Rebecca having had stayed behind to help with things in the States, Chris wanting her to stay away from Umbrella a little longer.  The youngest member of the Raccoon STARS was too important just with her field of expertise to allow to get killed in a firefight.

The young woman hated hiding, but at nineteen she could understand why Chris was hiding her.  He wanted her to try to have the rest of the little bit of a childhood she had left.

To hide out, she had to pretend to be a typical teen.  At least David’s friend’s daughter was there to help her out with that.  Seemed the girl was good at hiding secrets too.

/ Now that I think about it, so is Harry, They’re hiding from someone… / She thought knowing if she pried, they’d pry into her past as well.  Last thing she wanted was to involve the two of them in Umbrella.

“You know you keep that up and they’ll just keep cat-calling.”  Heather bit back a laugh as one of the boys, whom had been trying to pull off a stunt on his skateboard, fell face first on the pavement.

Rebecca had almost moved to help the kid when his buddies got him up.  He was fine.

/ She still tries to help.  It’s like something that is part of her. / Heather thought as the other teen looked at her, tucking the hair out of bright green eyes.

“I know, but its kind of cute watching them scramble like that.  You’d think I was a cheerleader, or even a blonde with how they act.”  She paused a moment seeing something in the corner of her eye.

Glancing at a window as they passed she saw a tall dark and muscular man.  His hair was swept back, almost making her turn to look at him, just to see if it was whom she had thought it was.

/ It can’t be Coen… There’s no way he’d be back on the East Coast. / She closed her eyes a moment.  / He would have made it to Mexico or even Canada.  Hell he could be over seas by now. / She thought, not even wanting to think that the man she had traveled around the facility near the Spencer Estate with had been in Raccoon City when it had been destroyed.  / Besides, I’m just the annoying kid, why would he search me out. / She didn’t even realize that she had a worried look on her face.

“Becca?” Heather touched her arm making her jump.  “Easy there, looked like you had seen a ghost.”

“Nah, I’m fine.  Just remembered something that’s all.”  She smiled hoping to put her companion at ease.  “Come on, we’re grabbing lunch first right?  Then I have to stop and see if they have that book Harry wanted.”  She hoped the taller teen would buy the story.  “Happy Burger right?  Let’s hope they don’t trash my salad again.”

“You’re probably the only teenager here that eats salads at a fast food joint.” Heather shook her head.  She didn’t know why the girl was so picky.  Becky had said it was something about an allergy, Heather didn’t believe it, but didn’t press.

/ Still don’t know what Uncle David’s into, but he wanted Dad to keep an eye on Becky.  Something about a favor owed. /  She smirked a little.  / At least the girl’s cool.  We got Dad to ease up on a lot of things. / Thought the girl wasn’t into parties, which was a bummer Heather wanted to drag her to a rave sometime.  She’d probably enjoy herself.

Becky laughed.  “Yeah you’re probably right, but you won’t go to anything better.”  She smiled.  “And you know how bad burgers are for you.  Really, its disgusting.”  She stepped into the building, enjoying the blast of air conditioning that hit her fully.  She was briefly reminded of earlier in the summer, and the smell of rotting flesh of the infected as they still moved around searching for their next victim.  She paled a brief moment, shivering.

Of course it was something that Becky had kept to herself, after all, she didn’t know how much that the Masons knew.  She blamed it on stress, and the feeling that David had slipped her something to help her sleep.

/ The only time he would have had a chance to was when we stopped at that truck stop.  It was probably in my soda; that was the only time I didn’t have something prepackaged since we had left Caliban Cove. / She thought shaking her head.  “I’ll just get fries, I’m not that hungry anymore.”

“And here you complain about what I eat.  Really Becca, you should eat more.”  Heather lightly teased draping an arm over the smaller girl, fighting the urge to give her a noogie.  Rebecca was a few months older than she was, but with her smaller build, Heather tended to treat her like she was younger, which Becky didn’t seem to mind.

“So you and Harry keep saying.  Really I’m fine.”  She slipped out of Heather’s grasp.  “I’ve always been picky about what I eat.”  / Okay that’s a lie, but works for now; not like she needs to know the reason I can't eat meat's because I keep smelling the zombies whenever I smell it cooking.  I'm amazed I can actually still eat half the time. / She thought grinning at Heather.  “Come on let’s go already.”

Entering after the pair was a man, in his late twenties, wearing a faded blue work shirt over a white wife beater and tight jeans.  / Looks like that Trent guy was right.  She’s here and looks like the kid’s been through hell. / He slipped into a shop near where the girls went in, shaking his head.  / Last few months weren’t easy on any of us it seems. / He sighed to himself.

Even though they had only really known each other a few hours, he felt bad about leaving the rookie cop alone when they had gotten out of the testing facility.  He had thought about going back for her, knowing that if he had, her team would have packed him up to send him to his execution.

/ She did order me to leave.  Even let me take the rifle… / He shook his head again at the thought.  It had been two weeks since the strange man calling himself Trent, had found him in the small cantina in Mexico.

Billy had gone to a small town, hoping to hide from the US government.  The man who had found him had been dressed in a tan, finely tailored suit, looking more like he’d be at ease in Malibu than a dusty Mexican town.  The man’s smile never faded; in fact it almost seemed permanently painted on.

Billy Coen shook his head.  He didn’t want to remember the conversation he had, had with the man just yet.  After all, he knew Becky was alive; he needed to get her alone to talk to her, just to make sure she was still his Becky.  The sweet little cop girl that had helped him in the facility, looking at her he couldn’t help but smile, she had grown up some since they had last seen each other.

“She still looks good though, little on the thin side…” He muttered to himself as he slipped out of the newsstand seeing Becky and her friend had stepped out of the fast food place.  Both were sipping at sodas, and nibbling at fries as they walked to the mall proper.

Silently he thanked Trent for being unable to figure another way to contact Becky.  He remembered his mission; he had to make contact with her fist though.  Work could wait a few more hours; he wanted to know she really was okay.

“We should go look at music…” Heather watched as Becky glanced behind them again.  Using the shop window as a mirror, she saw the older man.  “You know him?”

Becky gave a small nod.  “He… Yeah,” She bit her lip.  “He shouldn’t be here though.”  The tone was filled with a mix of relief and worry.  “Heather, mind if I catch up to you?”

Becky didn’t like the idea that Billy was out in the open.  If anyone were to recognize him… She had declared him dead, just so he could get away from the cops.  She wanted him to stay safe; the man was innocent of what he had been charged with.  Being with him in the facility she knew that he wasn’t a killer.

He could have killed her several times before they had actually met.

Becky yelped blushing when she heard Heather laugh.

“You know Dad’ll be pissed if you do anything right?”  She smiled at Becky’s blush.  “Don’t keep me waiting too long.  And Dad wanted us back in time for dinner.”

She nodded as Heather walked off.  / Great… I’m not like that Heather! / She didn’t say anything though as she heard the footsteps move closer to her.

It took all of Ex Lt William Coen’s will not to just grab her around the waist when the other girl had walked off.  He grabbed her arm gently, leading her to the back halls.

Rebecca Chambers gave a startled yelp, but let him lead her.  When they were in the hall he pressed her against the wall kissing her chastely.  Looking up she could feel the burn on her cheeks as she deepened the kiss slightly.

“How… shouldn’t you be out of the country?  And… how did you find me?  David said he covered my tracks well.”  Even though the kiss had been nice, she wanted to know what he was up to.

Billy kept her hands pinned to the wall, leaning in to take in the scent of her shampoo.  “You smell better than last time.”  Pulling back slightly he smiled at her.  “Champagne?”

She blushed even more.  “D… don’t go changing the subject Coen.”  She tried to glare at him.  The look was pathetically weak.

He chuckled a little. “A mutual friend, he got me back into the country.”  Billy whispered into her ear, smirking when she gasped slightly.  “Missed you cop girl.”

She shuddered slightly as he brushed the hair out of her face and brushed his lips against her neck making her gasp ever so slightly.  “You really are too easy to tease.”

He pulled back from her before she could feel how badly his teasing and her moans and shudders had turned him on.  The baggy work shirt he wore helped to hide it as well.  / Well at least she’s not going to hit me yet. /

“Good, you weren’t that good, and really, it’s too dangerous.”  The concerned look on his face was genuine.  He opened his mouth to say more but stopped.

Becky couldn’t help but give a half-hearted scowl.  The man was right though.  She just hated the way he patronized her about it.  / Yeah, my first mission as a STARS member… I’m the only survivor of my team, and it’s all because he helped me out.  Just how many times could you have killed me? / She shook the thought from her head.

She knew Billy wasn’t a cold-hearted killer.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to upset you doll-face.”  He gave her a small grin.  “Just wanted to tell you that I’d be in town a while.”  He brushed his hand through her hair again.  “You were targeted.  I was asked to keep an eye on you.  You don’t mind do you?”  He asked his eyes still showing concern.

/ Great, I’m useless outside a lab, I have an ex-con as a bodyguard, and I don’t even know what’s going on… / She thought wondering how much showed on her face, though she did smile and shake her head.  “I don’t mind.  I’ll have to introduce you to Harry so he doesn’t try to shoot you for being too close.”  The smile widened more.  “He’s really protective over his girls.”

She had wanted to go with the other STARS to Europe, but they had insisted she stay behind, in case everything went badly, someone who knew what really went on in Raccoon had to tell the tale.  Even David had agreed it was dangerous after losing Steve and Karen.

The decision was the only reason Rebecca had been ‘rotting’ away the last few months playing ‘typical teenager’.

“I don’t know what’d going on Becky, but here.”  He held up a piece of paper for her.  “I was only told the situation here, and I’m not leaving until I know you’re safe.  Can’t have my favorite little cop girl getting hurt after all.  Then who would arrest me?”  He smiled when she blushed snatching the paper.

It was a cell number.  He patted his pocket letting her know it was his.  The number didn’t go to the phone, but Trent had agreed to give her the number when he was done talking to her.

She nodded tucking it into her pocket.  “Gotcha.  Look, Billy, I really have to go catch up with Heather.  If I’m targeted, they might know where I’m staying, which means she and Harry are too.  Something tells me Mr. Mason can handle himself, but Heather’s civilian.  I don’t think she’s ever gotten into any serious trouble.  If things go bad, I want to be there to make sure she gets out unharmed.”

“Why’d he agree to hide you where others would get hurt…” Billy growled slightly, not liking the idea of innocent people around Becky.  Not only did it make it harder for his plans, to take her away from everything so that she’d be safe.

The older man had even figured out a place to hide her, it was in a small little town, but the cabin was on the edge of a lake.  / She’d like it… it would be peaceful, and I can help her build a lab there. /

“His friend agreed to it.  I didn’t get why, something about me looking like someone from his past.”  She sighed a little.  “And a favor owed.”  Pushing him back a little she smiled.  “Besides, we thought that I could blend in better with a group of teenagers.  You know how hard it is for me to actually try to fail a class?”

He chuckled a little.  “I can imagine.”  His smile faced.  “You’re armed right?”  He wanted to know so that he could figure out how to arm her if she wasn’t.  He knew that if she asked she’d hand over a gun to him.

/ How many times did she really get into trouble and need me to save her? /  He thought as she nodded.

“David and Barry both went through it with me.  I’m not to leave the apartment unarmed, just in case.”  She sighed a little.  “That’s why I should go find Heather.  IT I’m a target… I mean if I bleached my hair we’d look like sisters.”  She slid the gun out of where it id at the small of her back.  She even checked the clip like she had been taught.  “I think I have it under control.”

/ She’s a decent shot given time to line them up. / He thought as she straightened out the baggy tee she wore to hide it.

“Even Mr. Mason told me to keep it on me at all times.”

/ Hopefully I’m still early, and they don’t know exactly where she is. /  He nodded.  “You be careful okay?  I don’t want you getting hurt Doll.”  He touched her cheek lightly.

She smiled at him touching his hand.  “I’ll be fine.  Figure you probably have some sweetie back home waiting for you.”

“Maybe, some little chica with a bigger brain than you?  Too bad that’s not the truth.”  He smiled at her leaning in to kiss her again.  “You know you can always leave with me.  I’d protect you.”

“You know I can’t.”  She pulled away from him.  “After all, didn’t you call me jailbait?”  She huffed playfully.  “I remember you saying you liked 'em bigger too.”  She straightened up a little so that it looked like she was puffing up her chest a little.

He remembered the conversation.  She had pulled him out of the sewers and he had been a little delirious from nearly drowning.

“Yeah… well,” He ran a hand through his hair.  / Damn I really say that to her? /  “Aw, get going.  Before I do something drastic and kiss you again.”  He waved her off.

Rebecca giggled as she stepped back.  “You say that like it’s a bad thing.”  Turning she headed for the door leaving Billy standing, stunned for the moment.

Getting to the far door she found it locked.  The lights were dimmer than they had a few minutes before.  “Just my luck, electric locks and there’s probably a power outage.”  She headed back the way she had come and Billy was gone.  “Coen?”  She called out staying close to the wall.  Something didn’t feel right.  The gun went to her hand as she walked down the hall testing doors.

Something screamed behind one of the locked doors making her jump.  Took the teen a moment to realize that the scream; was one of pain.

Biting her lip she shoved the door while trying the knob.  It wouldn’t budge.  Kicking at it, just under the lock she tried to bust it open like Chris had taught her.

“Come on… open…” She whimpered, as it still refused to move.

Something moved behind her, the shuffling noise making the teen turn.  The figure had turned the corner.  “Wait!”  She ran after it, noting the air was starting to smell like smoke.  / Great, a power outage and now a fire, just what I really need. Heather you better be okay… / She thought as she turned yet another corner.

Heather stood in the hall; the woman who had cornered her had disappeared without a trace.  “Okay… Next time Becky, you and I are sticking together at the mall.  This is fucking nuts.”  The teen started the way the woman had gone, finding there were no monsters that way.  The pistol she had found was tightly in her hands as she neared the elevator, it’s doors wide open as if inviting her to enter.

“Looks like the only way I have to go is down now.”  She stepped into the cage not liking the idea one bit.  When the doors closed she yelped as it started on it’s way down.
