About time for an update I guess. Been swelteringly busy of late with HB-related stuff, and I'm about to explain why below.
Basically, HB hasn't been top-notch for a while, we all got somewhat lethargic, and I sat back and thought..."Wait a minute. This has got to stop, I need to get this project moving again, for my own sanity and for the 200,000 readers". So I had a frank discussion with Adam about it and we agreed on a lot of shit. The upshot of it is that now we're getting more staff in to address the backlog of stuff. We've taken on 3 new guys - Sean, a friend of Adam's, he will do BM solely - Jake, a mutual friend of us both, who will address BM predominantly and Drone/Doom for me - and Lee, a good mate of mine who plays in Imindain, he'll be addressing Doom with me, although particularly Death/Doom. I'm still on the lookout for someone to address Trad Doom because it needs a place on HB but we hate it so...kinda difficult, yet I recognise that it is more than deserving of a place on the site. So I'll keep my eyes open there. I have my hopes pinned on another guy named Malcolm to help us with Stoner/Sludge Doom, but if that fails, it'll have to be me who takes that on too. I wouldn't mind too much, I love some good Sludge/Doom, just the workload is vast. But yeah, we might even make it into teams on HB, a BM team and a Doom team. I'd naturally head the Doom team, BM team would be Adam. We're gonna make these announcements at HB over the weekend btw. Another thing we'll be bringing up is that any bands wishing to be reviewed must come through me now, to give Adam more time to work on posting reviews and so on. We've really analysed how things need to work here and set about doing them. So now my many jobs include me being a project manager, head of a Doom team, one of HB's main men behind the scenes, reviewing, talent spotting, getting bands signed to labels, building a network of contacts throughout Europe so I can obtain some of the releases we miss and to get HB's name spread around, to keep charge in the HB Forum, monitor the new guys' work, analyse any other Doom reviews, and to help Adam write out any new announcements. Atm, I have all that on top of dealing with bands, labels, Christmas, and trying to complete 50 reviews before the end of the year, so I am sure you can appreciate how busy I am atm. Still, it's all good.
Life...how is life right now...let me think...it's good! Went out and got absolutely plastered the other night with work, don't remember much of it but driving after 7 bottles of Newcy is not a good idea. I somehow woke up with Deb K's hairtie on my wrist, which was amusing when I gave it back to her at work haha. Don't worry, nothing sordid, I just stole it when she wasn't looking at the bar. What else...spending much time as possible with Nicole, a real woman who won't walk off because she hasn't got the balls to commit. That's not just a dig - that's a fact. She's a wonderful woman who I love a lot, and who returns it, something that's not happened to me very much really. I owe her a lot for my recent sanity. Bee - thanks for being you, you're awesome, you look after yourself. Jen, sorry I ain't spoke to you for ages, seems we're both working our asses off atm!
