The profound roots of Goth began in the Arctic circle, the frozen Hyperborean regions, and it is said that our most cherished core ideal or the Good shares the same linguistic roots, and this hearkens to the teachings of Imbachilas of the Ancient Greeks, Ascending the Spheres to know the One and the Good, the astral gates known to the Strigoi, or the Vampire-Magicians who walked the Athens streets by night. Likewise these astral gates were known to the ancient Visigothic wizards, and unlocked their mysteries through the ancient rune staves, the Nine Worlds of Yggdrasil, the intradimensional gates of the Universe...masters of blood Magick. Though our recent literature depicted figures such as Dracula, it was rumoured that he called upon the ancient Stone Gods known to his Berserker ancestors. The Seven Gods of our Days are of Gothic lineage, and Eliphas Levi assigned Seven Virtues to the Days and Planets, this was called 'The Sword of Victory' weilded by the Archangel. So this can be appreciated through Early Music which inspired projekts such as Qntal or Helium Vola, or Baroque period music such as Bach, or the splendour of Edwardian Period music such as Ralph Vaugn Williams. I still remember the song 'Burn' by The Cure when I first watched The Crow, a timeless movie, and especially 'After the Flesh' by My Life After the Thrill Kill Kult during the exhilarating fight scene. Though that is hardly comprehensive, 'Straight to the Light' by Feilds of Nephilum is something meaningful to me.- Michael Rayborn
