Miami thinking

Miami-

Ripped, buff, tan, silicone, cover-up. The mentality in this metropolis of a cat walk is like another culture or country. These peoples only concern is their bodies. Which in todays world does not seem unbelievable but unbelieveably sad. If you are not golden brown and well scultped or endowed you are most likely at the top of the food chain and are therefor not a “hottie”. Though one might assume that the native Floridian is an unhappy shallow sex-hunting moron I have to come believe otherwise...in some senses.
After arriving in Miami my first concern was that I might be the most hideous abonormal caracter that one could find walking down Ocean Drive and though I still believe this my reasons for it are now different. At first it was the way I act dress and my level of intelligence that made me different but now after an internal debate I see that it is what I think is important compared to waht they think is. Everyone can agree that the goal in ones life is to survive as happily as possible but what makes us happy is the key and what is different for everyone. Whether it is giving to charity, stealing, waging war on other countries or just reading a book. to the Floridian it appears that what they believe most important is their happines and they attain that by finding relationships, partying, and their sense of style but is it these things which make them happy or just the way they were raised?
For example in Spain and in many latino places the women keep themselves looking fabulous just for the sake of lookingthat way. Not to attract mates or make others envious (though it may have started out so). They have don’t have an obsession or an ideal person that they strive to be like though I’m not denying they don’t wish to look like Marlyn Monroe or have the charm of Bizets Carmen but they do not have a standard to live up to as we Americans have Barbie. At night women in Madrid dress themselves to look their best and to have fun. Women in Miami on the other hand dress as if they are about to go pose as innocent hookers. And in their hooker gear they spend the night perfecting their attracticing skills. They enjoy making men gawk at them and as we know this is a form of attention.
This is what truly baffles me though. With all the exercise they must be doing to maintain their bodies they must have enough endorphins to last them an entire day. I mean for many depressed girls today excercise is what many therapists will recomend to release endorphins and raise metabolism so loosing weight becomes easier. So why do these women still crave attention? Is is that the american standand they seek is simply to high or they believe it is so? Though these Floridians do lack something and that is a critical way of looking at everyone else apart from their bodies.
This critical way of thinking is achieved by many people who couldn’t achieve or didn’t want to become the all american Barbie or GI-Joe. Since they never became this they developed a way to ridicule the people who do want to be that way. Giving them a sarcastic edge which the blonde beach babe floridian does not posses.
It is not even so much the mentality but the culture of Miami that amazes me, partially because I don’t fit it but also because there’s no where else like it. If one person who was especially good looking, had lots of confidence and was exceptionally advanced in their social skills happened to go on a night around the town I’m fairly sure they could manipulate any male or female their desired.
I suppose this is trying to say that the happy people are those who just don’t care to know or think deeper and therefor they are gullible and shallow but having those does have an up side with is blind happiness. Could that be better than a life of confusion and sorrow in the case of the deep thinker?
You can be “deep and happy” -balanced
